I am in the process of creating a website using Joomla and using this template. Now the "WM Sophistication" header on the top is a PNG file which I wish to replace with say "MY Website" so to say similar to the look and feel of "WM Sophistication". Can I do it using Gimp?

I found this one quite useful. Goes into quite a bit of detail though not sure if its exaclty what you are after ans its more of an advanced instruction "book" for Gimp features.

You certainly can. This should help:

For a task such as this, you're probably better off using a vector editor such as Inkscape, though.
