Yes
My problem is that I normally use a laptop-but a friend has given me a mac g4 to learn on before i get a g5.
I hired a studio on sunday and the group i was shooting was larger than the back ground.
I did most of what i wanted on the laptop but i wanted to use the mac.
the pics are on a disc and i can view them on the mac, i can load them into GIMP and manipulate them, but it will not allow me to save the image?

what i have been doing is using the cut out tool drawing round the edge/light stand and attempting to match the back ground.

I end up with one bit that has been drawn round but when I attempt to move the mouse i get a line to where i want the mouse next.

I have only ever used basic stuff before.

my head hurts.

Cheers

have you tried select, cut and paste?
sorry if this is overly basic

actually - reading again, it's not clear if you're trying to save the cut out as an image or cut the image over to another image?

Is the Disk a CD or DVD ??? .... and are you trying to save the image back to this CD / DVD ?

I wrote in a bit of a hurry as i was peed off with the stupid computer(or me)

The pics are on a dvd that i burnt from my laptop(pc)

The pic is in a studio that has a background that was not wide enough so i need to enlarge the background.

It may be easier if i post the pic up when i get home.

Cheers

probs
Sounds like you just need to manipulate in layers and save locally? get the pic up and we can advise better.

I think that's exactly what has happened

BTW, don't bother with a G4 or a G5 - they're obsolete now. All the Intel-based Macs are infinitely faster, will run the current OS and current software. Don't box yourself in with something obsolete right at the beginning, buy into something with a future

Sorry for the lack of update, i`ve been in hospital another 30cm of colon less no pics sorry.

The pics on flickr i would like to make the whole back ground the same colour.
I.e. whiteish

The g4 and g5 are free so would be rude to turn down and these mean I can get f2.8 zooms rather than the current stuff i have, I hired a 17-55 2.8 canon from lens pimp for the weekend and studio work.

Cheers
