Just wondering how people burn/dodge and whether they are better than my version:

new layer (transparent)
layer mode - overlay
Paint black/white/grey with soft edges brucsh
Set opacity of new layer.
flatten image

That's my preferred way to do it in photoshop.

I sometimes do a bit in lightroom with the adjustment brush. You can set a colour for the tool so you can be more aggressive without it looking grey. For example indoors with tungsten ambient light setting the adjustment a slight warm tone makes it blend in really nice. I do the same thing with the gradient tool in lightroom.

I tend to just play with the opacity, scale and brush shape on dodge/burn aplet thingy. If I don't like it I just go back a step.

Thanks for the info folks, i was just making sure there wasnt an even better way to go about doing it.
