Hai guys.

Need some advice. I am trying to break into the Gig/Concert Photography Market, but I only use a G9 as I am not blessed with a Photography Pass. Although I maybe in luck with one soon so I want to be prepared.

I am wondering what do you guys recommend for a Gig Lens, within the price range of £500/600? I've been recommended a Sigma 30mm Lens, but I don't know how good Sigma are. As I have never used them. I have a 70-200mm Lens, but I need a decent prime lens of some sort.

My main Camera is the 350D, although I'll soon get the 40D once the price drops.

Anyone can help me out it would be epic :)

24-70 f/2.8 if you get good lighting. If not you'll be looking to primes. 50mm f/1.8.

I would think either 50mm 1.8 or 85mm 1.8

So, nothing cheap then? Haha. Ta for the advice guys, best get saving :)

Well you an always go manual. I did a gig shoot a couple of months ago. 24-70 2.8 on my 5D but I also had a 350D with an old 200mm 2.8 Helios prime lens - that cost me about 25 quid including the adapter :-)

So you can do it cheap but you do need to work a little harder to get good pics. If you're interested I'll dig out a couple of the pictures I took with the cheap lens

last one i did with the 350 and the nifty, i are mostly using shutter priority. and it was darker than a very dark thing.
kept above 80 and watch your apeture.
up the iso. and it works. you got to be very acurate on focusing though.
give it a try and have fun.

i did a music festival last month, and got access to the pit in front of the stage, the nifty fifty was a good range, the 85mm was a bit close.

I also had a Tamron 28-70mm 2.8 which was quite good aswell
