Do GiffGaff PAYGO SIM's have a time limitation for purchased 'Goody-bags' or can the credit be retained for as long as it is unused?

Goodybags only last a month. Normal credit lasts forever but you have to make some kind of billable something every so often to keep the account active. I forget how frequent this has to be though.

Correct. Each goodybag lasts 1 month even if it's not used. Sorry Gramps!

Hmm not as good as I thought it was then ... bit like 'contract' without the contract.

Well if don't intend to use it much, go for the airtime credit, that doesn't run out. It is still one of the cheapest out there. I love it!

I have a SIM being sent but I only see an option for activating it with a 'goody-bag' ... how do you just get credit?

Need to set up your account and choose airtime credit.

Ok ta, I'll check it out once the SIM finally arrives :)

If you order your sim from another member, you both get £5 free credit. Not sure you get it if ordered direct.

Ah, well maybe I'll need to if it doesn't arrive :)

Have you looked at Ovivo - you can get totally free calls, text and data forever (!) for a one-off payment of £20.

They also offer various monthly payment SIMs if you need higher limits. Uses the Vodafone network.

Another vote for GiffGaff, I use the £7.50 goodybag, its just cheaper for me than on the airtime credit. My wife uses the credit only as she's a very light phone user. Good service and much cheaper than when I was with O2. I believe you will still get the £5.00 credit when you first register the sim card.

I've been on giffgaff for a few years now and it has been overwhelmingly positive. You only need to buy a Goodybag if you want a monthly bundle. If you are happy with PAYG then just put some credit on the account and use as and when you need it. You do need to use it once in a while though (month or two - can't remember) or it assumes the account is inactive and it de-activates it. You get a warning via SMS that this is happening and all you need to do is make a quick chargeable call and all is well again. Both my wife and I use goodybags with data but we have an old basic Nokia with PAYG credit which my young daughter uses, as long as you are in an area with good O2 reception (they piggyback on their network) you will struggle to find a better deal.

I have an Ovivo sim, I wouldn't rely it for more than calls and texts. The data rate is glacial, to say the least, Vodafone seems to have slowed right down and Ovivo is even slower.

They also have some "smart data" throttling policy which makes it even slower again if you don't browse enough adverts.

You need to be very patient to use data on Ovivo.

I must admit not being one of those who is tied to their mobile phone I only use calls and texts rarely, so Ovivo does me fine.
