ghosty type effects

Hey - are you referring to the shot with the ghosty arm or the others? I think most of the atmosphere comes from the hard B+W conversion. The easiest way in photoshop is: Image>Adjustments>Black & White, then try some of the presets from the pull down menu at the top. Play around - that's the key with photoshop.
 
If the shot you are talking about is the one with the hand on the door, then this is easy to do!

Take a photo of the "door" or the whatever it is and open it in Photoshop, open a new image, the "hand" and drag the hand onto the photo of the door, when both images are in the same window reduce the layer opacity of the layer with the hand on, and it will become see through and somewhat ghost like. Make sure the hand layer is the top of the two layers or you will have a ghost door and normal hand.
