Seriously, has anyone captured a ghost or unexplained image?

I trust you lot to be objective ( yes i'm so naïve )...lol

I'm neither a believer or disbeliever, just curious as to any curious images the membership have come across that they believe aren't faked.

Never caught one on film, but I know a keen metal detector guy, who is a bit of a "hard nut", and there is one place in the UK which he will not go to again, simply because of a very frightening experience he had. He is the sort of guy who will go out detecting anywhere during the night without anyone tagging along.

Never experienced anything myself and I've slept out many a night alone but I do have first hand experience of others picking up on things from hundreds of years ago and 'ghosts' in the house etc.

However, it's images of the 'hmm, curious', i'm after for this thread.

A visiting professor at Florida State University is giving a seminar on the supernatural.
To get a feel for his audience, he asks: "How many people here believe in ghosts?" About 90 students raise their hands. "Well that's a good start he said.

Out of those of you who believe in ghosts, do any of you think you've ever seen a ghost?" About 40 students raise their hands.
"That's really good. I'm really glad you take this seriously.

Has anyone here ever talked to a ghost? 15 students raise their hands.
"That's a great response.

Has anyone here ever touched a ghost?"
Three students raise their hands. "That's fantastic. But let me ask you one question further.....Have any of you ever made love to a ghost?"
One student in the back raises his hand.
The professor is astonished. He takes off his glasses, takes a step back, and says, "Son, all the years I've been giving this lecture, no one has ever claimed to have slept with a ghost.
You've got to come up here and tell us about your experience."

The redneck student replies with a nod and a grin, and begins to make his way up to the podium.
The professor says, "Well, tell us what it's like to have sex with a ghost." The student replies, "Ghost? Damn..... From back there I thought you said 'goats'!"
.....................
Ok so thats out the way :D

On to the point of the thread, I've seen a few unexplained things over the years, but never actually photographed anything,
save a small "hard mist" moving across the road of an un lit country lane a few years back, I've searched for the image, but as yet I can't remember what I did with it TBH.

Edit, I forgot to say, when I was relating this story to someone that lived in the area, sometime later, it seems that someone took their own life in that very spot.

I dont know much about Ghosts, well maybe the Holy Ghost ;) But that's another story:D

But a story about my Mum and Dad. They had been split up for many years, 28 or so iirc my mum was very unwell in a 24 hr care home and my dad who I knew very little about was dying. My dad passed away in the middle of the night the following day It was discussed that no one should tell my very unwell mum he had passed away.

My sisters went to see my mum and as soon as they got there she said, after all these years "HE" (my dad) was here last night, who? my sisters said "The old man" she said, he sat on the end of the bed and wouldn't b****r off, who let him in at that hour of the flipping night all night he sat there talking....

I don't and never have known what to make out of it, She was told a few weeks later he had passed away.

Don't believe in them one bit. I believe that any 'sightings' are just our minds filling in gaps due to thoughts/feelings/memories ec.

Well funny you should ask that I was going to start a thread of my own not so long ago. Its not me personally but some very close friends have which has had me doubting everything I thought I believed or didn't believe I should say.

It started a few years ago my friends family moved out of a rented property very sharpish. They said it was creepy and left it at that. A few years later and another one of my friends and family bought the house. We were all up the pub before it all went through telling him it was haunted and that Russell lived there. We all laughed it off. However it now turns out they are having the same issues. We pressed the on the first couple for more details and they told us the children are seeing a big nasty man who doesn't want them to life there, with the last straw being one of the children being dragged out of the bed by her foot. This is the very same thing the second couple have experience. They caught there child arguing with the big man she was shouting "no it's my house and we will not go"

Sorry :)

I've heard of a few stories like this and it's always girls that have the 'experiences.' A friend's teenage sister woke one night to find a 'young boy' sitting at the end of her bed. She talked to him for a short time, then went back to sleep. A couple of years later when a friend dropped her off from work, he mentioned the death of a young boy in the house some time ago and described him as what she had seen. Spooky!

At the risk of being called a nut case I'll tell my story. First of all I'd like it to be known that I'm not saying that this is a ghost story just something that I've never been able to fathom out. I used to work in a boiler house in a paper mill, it was a restricted area and there was only 3 people on my shift. On this particular day we had a lagger lagging a water tank on the third gantry from ground level and I climbed up there to have a chat to him to pass a little time.
He was working on a tank abutting a walkway that was no more than a couple of feet wide and was on his knees working. It was very noisy up at the top of the boilers and to chat with this guy I knelt down next to him, our legs were blocking the remainder of the walkway and there was only one way up and down. We had been talking for a couple of minutes when we both noticed a guy walking towards us and in order to let him past we both lent forwards and swung our legs to the side to let him past, he walked behind us but never reappeared past us, just vanished out of sight. We both thought the only thing that could have happened was that he had fallen 60 feet over the hand rail. We immediately climbed down the only stairway down to ask the other two guys if anyone else was in the building but none of them had seen anything. I went and locked the only exit from the boiler house and searched every where I could find but found nothing or nobody. To this day me and Stan are still mystified.

I've had quite a few 'spooky' experiences, all of which can also be rationalised and explained away by other means too . . . but I'll leave you to be the judge of exactly what's behind a couple of them .

> From the age of 4 to around 8 I used to insist that I was unable to sleep because "the lady in the long blue dress" kept coming into my bedroom and sitting on the edge of my bed. I don't actually remember anything about it, but my mother says it used to really freak them out because I was so adamant about the story and the details of it.

> This must have been about 15 years ago, but there was a distant relative known as Aunty D who I'd only ever met once or twice and hadn't heard from or thought about in years. Not really a 'ghost story' but all day in work, I had this niggling, recurring thought at the back of my mind : "Tell D not to worry, it's just that her time has come. There's nothing to be afraid of and she won't be in pain any more". When I arrived home that night, my mother rang to tell me that she'd had a phone call from D's daughter - D was suffering from stomach cancer and the doctors had given her only days to live.

> And to answer the OP, yes I do have a "ghost pic"
If I can find it I'll scan in at some point, it's from an old film P&S.
A perfectly ordinary photo of the dog in the garden, but just above her is a cloudy, blurry patch with what you'd swear was a face inside it - ghost or pareidolia in a spot of lens flare? :naughty:
(Sorry to disappoint, but I suspect it's the latter - although the ghost explanation is far more fun!)

Do I believe in Ghosts, yes or at least something unexplainable, had a few strange experiences, but no pictures
Do they scare me, no it's the living that hurt you I find cemetaries lovely peaceful places

Not always girls;)
My OH and I were driving home one night on a quiet dual carriageway with quite a few bends. As we approached one of these bends, opposite the old university building, we both saw exactly the same thing, we were both sure we had seen a young woman crossing the road. I hesitate to say she appeared to be drifting across rather than walking. My OH jammed on his brakes coming to a stop. Now one there. We both saw the same thing. My OH is a true sceptic, unlike me, I'm not convinced either way.

This was many years ago now but only a few months back we were having dinner with some friends who have recently bought an old house within the old grounds. They were talking about the spooky grounds and odd things happening in the old house. They had been told of a young woman who had been killed on the main road outside the grounds. We hadn't told them of our experience until then.

As I intimated in my original post...pics please, I know there are things that are not easily explained and my thoughts are that they are things captured in realms we can't fathom, much like how we capture images and sound, a medium that would be unthinkable only a few decades ago.

My parents house is surrounded by old textile mills, and there are two local legends of ghosts haunting the area.
One lady who supposedly haunts the bridge near to the house, as it is where the residents used to cross the water to go to church, before the church was rebuilt on another site the other side of the river.
The other, is some supposed ghost(s) haunting the old textile mills, linked to some young workers getting caught up in the textile machinery and killed a couple of centuries ago.
I spent huge amounts of time exploring in the old mills, and houses when I was younger, and have walked/cycled through them countless times at night, and NOTHING.
Even that 'Most Haunted' show filmed an episode there, and despite shooting around there many times, strangely I never caught a single ghost on camera, or saw one myself.

That's pretty much my take on it too.....

Without getting too deep, we evolved from animals, animals have a 6th sense for example if you've had a bad day, chances are the cat/do will know as soon as you walk in the room.

We lost the 6th sense (well the vast majority of us) when we developed speech but at some point we would have communicated non-verbally, perhaps even telepathically.

I believe that proper "mediums" still have this 6th sense and can read people, pick up on their thoughts, fears etc. When do most people go an see a medium? When they've lost someone close, when they're upset, emotional, something's bothering them perhaps.

IMVHO, Ghosts are just a manifestation of thoughts/emotions and perhaps we even pick up on them from other people.

Having said that and whilst remaining a skeptic, there is still so much about ourselves and the World/universe we don't understand or even know about but until I see/hear some proper hard proof, a skeptic I shall remain.

BTW.... I saw a medium about 15 years ago, there was only one thing she said that I couldn't have consciously "fed her" unless she could read childhood memories that I'd forgotten or just got very very lucky

I remember this vividly. I must have been about 5 or 6 at the time, and I got up in the middle of the night to go for a pee (as you do). I went back to my room and picked up one of my comics and my mini torch that I kept under my pillow and started to have a little read. After a few minutes, I felt someone sit on the end of my bed, and immediately thought that id been rumbled by either Mum or Dad, so turned the torch off, threw the comic on the floor and put my head on the pillow, and said "ok im going back to sleep now"
No one answered and they just stayed on my bed, so I sat up and had a look and it was my Great Grandfather. I was very close with him, so I didn't even question why he was there. I was just pleased to see him. We had a running joke between the two of us, that he would ask me what I wanted to be when I was older, and I would always tell him that I wanted to be a burglar, which he found highly amusing. So, he sat there and said that I shouldn't worry as Mum hadn't heard me get up to go to the toilet so we had time to talk. He told me that I could be whatever I wanted to be, but should give serious consideration to 'not' being a burglar as it would upset my Mum and Dad. He also said that I should be good for them, and to give Grandma a big hug the next time I see her. With that, he wished me goodnight and walked out of my room.

I got home from school the next day, and ...yep...you guessed it...he had died the previous evening. Spooky.

Anf yes, I did give my Grandma a big hug the following day when I saw her, and told her that it was from Grandad.

This.

I have an open mind but have had several experiences that I cannot explain logically.
Same here. We used to live in a 14th century cottage in Wilstone opposite the pub and next to the graveyard. One room we just couldn't heat, the door was also very stuck. Yet my wife and I were on the landing and it moved by itself. When I went over I really had to put my weight into moving it back. We didn't hang around for too long.

OT
but i laughed at a recent post
someone suggested not telling people you had a kid - then dressing him/her in Edwardian clothes and placing in the OOF background of all your portraits .....:)

no experience - but Father stayed in a French farmhouse during WW2
'something' came up the stairs into his room - very cold
their young son had been shot in the back trying to escape up those stairs

Actually I totally forgot about this photo. I was up late one evening last year with the lights dim, and felt like someone was in the room with me. I didn't see anything but took a photo and it freaked me out.

Pernod whilst watching the world go by on a terrace in Aix-en-Provence...Hmm yes now you are talking...

Note to self: next time I post a photo of a ghost to crop Brandi out of the picture :)

And post the bit you've cropped out!
