Ghost story

Cracking stories guys....

Got a scary one about a ouija board myself ... When we'd finished with good results, turned the light on, removed our fingers from the glass ...then watched it gently accelerate accross the board and crash into the wall.

Thats certainly a fascination subject that I haven't really studied,
but isn't that supposed to be related to the magnetic pull of the Earth?
( well one theory anyway)

Yeah that’s the older theory isn’t it... The most substantiated (sp?) at the moment is based on the fact that the area lays over volcanic vents and an area packed with moving tectonic plates.

Its been proven that large eruptions of methane (Think it was methane) bubbling up through the sea in the triangle could make an area of water the size of several football pitches non-buoyant…. Suggesting that the boats simply fell through the sea like it was air all the way to the sea bed.
The same columns of methane rising from these bubbling acres do exactly the same thing to the air above as well, causing an aircraft to loose huge lift and therefore also fall straight out of the sky. … into the non buoyant water.

It must have been such terrible confusion to those in trouble eh.

It does fit rather well though doesn’t it.

Not heard that "theory" Adam, but I guess that it does make sense if Methane
( or other) gas breaks down the surface tension.

Ouija boards
I wouldn't "mess" with them in the sense that they are NOT party tricks!

They are quite an interesting subject to study though,
( though I haven't spent a great deal of time with them)
and a lot of the time the "glass" is being pushed by someone
sometimes consciously sometimes sub-consciously.
as you have noted sometimes "something else" happens.
...............................
Something or nothing?
You decide
Whilst typing this I miss-spelt sense as "sence"
( I do this quite a lot TBH)
and the spell checker corrects it as "sense"
this time it wanted to correct it as séance........
Are there ghosts in my machine ? (:D)

 Ghosts everywhere by the looks of it, I've misspelled that word loads myself but never miss-spelt to séance however. ...so their you go, you've got ghostly in your machine their mate! ...you need a cache exorcism! :D

Its not about the water tension btw, it about the seas overall density, the waters pushed out the way by the shear number of bubbles rising making for a very thin sea within the column ...that’s the theory as you say.

Not touching one of those boards again, no.

I was once asked to help exorcise a ghost
I just told the lazy [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER] to go for a run or buy an exorcise bike :D

Ah Gotcha

Back in the late 70's a mate & I stayed at an isolated cottage in Argyllshire. Quite a large building that could sleep at 2 dozen people.
Ground level was for cooking/messing and there were enough utensils etc for a full house to eat at the same time.
Upstairs were bunks for everyone.
Access was via a rough track, but the last 200 yds had to be done on foot.

We went in late on a January Friday night and there was a few inches of snow on the ground.
Only the two of us were there that weekend and there were no other tracks in the snow.

We had a cuppa, then lights out and into our sleeping bags.

No sooner had we laid down then all the lights came on followed by a horrendous downstairs noise of the kitchen utensils being thrown all over the place and crockery smashing. Could even hear the cutlery drawers being pulled out and tipped onto the stone floor.

We were bolt upright in an instant and seriously terrified. I shouted to my mate to get out of his bag so as not to get caught unable to put up a fight.

Noise went on for 5 to10 mins (hard to track time in that situation) then stopped as suddenly as it started. We had hold of a poker and a hammer, but decided to remain at the top of the stairs so as to have a height advantage over the intruder.

We must have waited a good hour before creeping downstairs to be confronted by another shock.
Not a thing was out of place.
Door was still locked and outside the only footprints in the snow were ours.

I have no explanation for any of that and to this day my mate has been comletely unable to discuss it.
Long since stopped asking him, but all he could ever do was shake his head from side to side when I mentioned it.

Other strange thing is that we stayed there the following night - again just the 2 of us and felt perfectly at ease.

That is certainly an interesting one!
"Classic" poltergeist type activity! However they usually leave
"evidence" of their tantrums ie broken cups etc

The other "classic" (very briefly,) explanation is that structures are capable of holding "information" and replaying it in certain types of atmospheric
conditions................

I bet there is a hell of a lot of people that wouldn't go near that place
again, ( and surprised that you did )

Did you mention the occurrence to the owners?

Yes, but all they could add was that another group had a weird experience with a ouija board. Seems that it spelled out the name of a doctor who once lived in the area. Never tried those things and don't know how much credence, if any, to give to them.
Must admit that given the terror at the time I have no idea how we came to be relaxec about spending the next night there too.
I am not into supernatural things as such and don't go looking for them as such.

There are a lot of un-explained occurrences that apparently start with "people messing" with Ouija boards

Dream 1
A couple of months after my 3 1/2 yr old niece died, I had a dream about her. That in itself isn't that uncommon as I often dream about my family.
Anyway, she was in a big open park. It had a few trees, but not many and a couple of benches. I was sat on the side of the bench farthest from the park (so that the table is between me and the park), when my niece appears with a large red ball (her favourite colour). She is playing catch with an older woman who I thought I recognised because she looked like my husband. I assumed it was his mum, but we have never met because she died when he was 18.
My niece was running around laughing (she was disabled and never even stood up, let alone walk).

When I woke up I asked for a photo of my husband's mum, but he doesn't have any, so off we trundle to his dad who pulls out a family holiday snap from about 8 years before she died. It's her.

Dream 2
Back in the same park, not long after my step grandmother died. She was in the park with my grandad, and I was the far side of the bench again. My step grandmother and grandad were probably about 35-40 years old. It's wierd but I've never seen pictures of them that age either.

Conclusion
The park is my take on whatever afterlife/heaven is and everyone is happy and young. (oh and the weather is fantastic!) I can't find any other explanation for it.

Interesting "dreams" , Carol
Many people claim to be able to "see" spirits in a mediative state its a self induced trance.
(and the spirits they "see" are free of any earthly encumberment ( ie any disability)
You know the feeling you get sometimes just BEFORE you go to sleep?
incredibly relaxing and peaceful?
This is that "state" that "mediums" are able to "hold" "by "certain means"
I am not going to explain any further as it can have negative effect
if you don't know what you are doing.

However that is only by way of an example, just ignore and don't read to much into it

Most VIVID dreams occur just before waking ( so it would almost be
a reversed "effect")

Again without being analytical, your assumptions would be correct
specifically to you and mostly will have a calming effect.
"the spirit world" and ghostly apparitions are generally poles apart
but at the same time can be inextricably link, both subjects are
fascinating and thanks for sharing.............

That’s a lovely dream Carol…..

I’ve done a little dream study myself over the years and much of it is down to symbols and feelings, the events themselves should be viewed as pictorial stories of your emotional take. The individual symbols in each frame can define what the dream is articulating ….

Ive looked up the main ones in your dream .. I thought you might find the answers interesting

The Park. An open landscape ready for cultivation. Ready to be ordered neat and inspirational when finished, Your viewing it in an admiring way from a distance..
The Table. An authoritive place, a place to stop and read, listen and be taught.. “Dad sits at the head of the table” Also, It carries the weight of things placed on it and yet your looking across it.
The Ball. Psychological wholeness, resilient and happily reassuring in red…also.. “the ball is out of your hands” and “who will play ball with her now” are part of the questions and answers.

Stuff like that… symbols are inevitable very personal to each dreamer.

Ghost stories frighten the cr;p out of me, I won`t even watch ghost films on the telly.

saying that the only experience I`ve had is this;

About 20 years ago I was out rabbiting with a little whippet lurcher I had on land we had crossed loads of times before, this night as we were crossing this field we came to a spot which suddenly felt cold, colder than the rest of the field we had crossed, I just thought it was some kind of temperature conversion as there was a brook nearby but the dog would not enter it he was trembling like I`ve never seen before in an animal, well I grabbed his collar to give him a tug and he dug all 4 feet feet into the ground and would not move, I picked him up to carry him across this spot and he pushed into my chest with fear and shaking, it almost frightend me, this cold spot was about 20-30 metres wide when we had crossed it the dog calmed down almost straight away, we continued with our walk without anymore problems, on the way back we had to cross the same field as frightned the dog and we crossed it with no problems, what it was that frightened the dog who knows.

I have never seen a ghost or spirits. Do i believe they exist, I most certainly do.

I had a Labrador who was a throroughly steady and obedient dog refuse to advance along a wooded track late one evening. He just stood staring ahead.

I did not take much convincing -about turn and home PDQ.

As a cat lover I'm beginning to feel I've been missing out! :D

... I've ridden horses that seemed to be spooked by nothing, but that’s horses for you, neurotic nutcases most of the time... at least I thought that was the reason... may be there is more to it.

Nope, I would agree with horses being neurotic.
I rode one once several years ago that was enough :D
(BTW how can anything stuffed with hay be so damned uncomfortable )

Cats are supposed to be able to pick things up as well, Adam.
Have you never had a cat "spit" and hiss at a wall or corner?
They are ( were) also the preferred choice as a "familiar" for witches

Ah yes your right they do don't they, mind like a sieve me.

I do attribute that kind of stuff to teeth or medical problems too, like a stuck fish bone or something. ...But my old molly who passed away several months ago used to stop and poke at the air sometimes, again I'm not sure if it wasn't spots before her eyes, blood pressure problem or something ...But it was always at the foot of some steps or below one part of a wall, one was a bright place and the other dark so it seemed like very odd behaviour over all.

PMSL .

I've know a few that rode sublime at any speed, and a few that could kill with every spine shattering stride. :gag:

Great thread.

Had a couple I can recount.

My Mum had a seance when she was young and the spirit kept repeating 'move away from the mountain' ' move away from the mountain'....Thinking nothing of this, Mum and her friends went about life and a few weeks later the Aberfan mining disaster struck killing lots of people and friends of my Mum who is 100% welsh and lived not far from the scene.

in the 1990's Mum and I held as seance where to me, the words being repeated were gobbldy gook, spelling over and over BARB, BARB, BARB, BARB but of course the other text, well it was all in Welsh. It was my Mums sister Barbara who had died around 6 years old due to polio and she was letting Mum know that she was with Nan and Grandad. My Mum was crying her eyes out. I was in shock.

Coming home from London my brother and I were on the motorwaty around 3/4 in the morning as it took forever to get out of the car park at Wembley. We passed an old woman walking on the hard shoulder. Odd. Dave and I looked at each other, I said pull over, we did, but when I ran back to find her, she was gone, nowhere to be seen. Dave and I still cant work it out now, but we both saw her. Fact.

Finally, my Uncle Pete died of a massive heart attack when he was on his work lunch break he was classified as dead for some time. He was however brought back to life. He told my Dad that he went through a tunnel of light and come out in a field with a large white house and fence. My granddad stood on the other side of the gate with his hand out, palm showing saying it was 'not his time to come' and 'he must go back'. Uncle Pete told this story once only and said he never wanted to talk about it again. Sadly he never recovered from the heart attack and succumb to illness brought on, but he is in pretty cool place I think.

Too many to list but they are always worth a chat.

Cool stories

Very cool one on the link below.

It relates to an "incident" in 1925 when when a member of a hillwalking party got separated from his friends and subsequently perished.
The rescuers were directed to where the victim lay (and where he eventually died prior to being found) by a series of mysterious letters that arrived.
It is a well documented account of a most peculiar story. It has never been explained, but it sure makes you think.

Story here:-
http://www.mountaineering-scotland.org.uk/nl/66e.html

Most on here will probably not be familiar with the area involved, but the story is best understood if you have a rough appreciation of the geography.
Sat pic with some place names here:-

I've had lots of wierd experiences. I was at my local spiritulist church one day helping to dry dishes after a coffee morning, with me was one of the ladies. As I reached for a saucher it jerked away from my hand, stunned I said "did you see that?"
"Yeah" she replied. "It's them upstairs mucking about". Her refural to 'them upstairs' is what she calls the spirit world. I've since tried running a marble down the worktop to check to see if it's uneven. It never moved!

I've also seen a man coming down the stairs in a blue boiler suit where we used to live and go out the front door. When we came to move a year later we were about to leave and I asked in my 8 year old nievity to my aunt and mother, 'is that man coming with us?'
'What man?' So describing the bearded gent in blue boiler suit, I saw them give each other funny looks.
"he's not coming"
"Why?
"He's staying here". It wasn't until I bought up the subject years later that i discovered he was a ghost of a former gasworks worker. My aunt used to hear the door close in the early morning, but when ever she looked no one was there.

Some ghosts don't realise they are dead, if they do then it's refurred to as what's called an 'intelligent haunting'.

7 years and nearly 6 months for a revival, Is this a record?
:D

May as well throw my experience in, 16 years ago my wife passed away,we where very close and did everything together, about 2 months after she died I had a dream, she came to me in the night and said its ok love ime going now and I wont be back.

Now this would have been just a dream but a few days later I decided to tell her sister about it,i said I wasn’t sure if I should tell her or not,she smiled and said was it Saturday night to which I replied yes,she then said Kath my late wife had come to her in a dream that night and said ime going now Madge no more pain and everything is fine.

Could be a coincidence but the similar dream on the same night ?

one foggy night some years ago i was working the late night taxi shift ,when coming back across the mountains i found a body draped over a rock ,from the angle of the body it was easy to see it had been hit by something and was most definitely a dead one ,i nearly crapped myself and indeed didn't even get out of the car i was literally about 4 feet away anyway ,i drove down to the nearest houses and spotted one with a light on hammered on the door and asked to use the phone .,the gentleman was as concerned as me and made me a coffee as i was shaking ,i had by then phoned the police told them exactly where it was and as i carried on off the mountain a police car went the other way with lights flashing .they phoned me at home the next morning as they couldn't find anything or anyone up there . i know what i saw though and the mystery remains .never ever scoff some things can't be explained even after 7 years and 6 months hissy

never ever scoff some things can't be explained even after 7 years and 6 months hissy
I used to do a lot of ghost busting some years back, only one remained a mystery, with no solid explanations.

No scoffing here, the subject fascinates me :)

Holy thread revival! :D
I will add here by saying I'd rather go miles out of my way than cross Swarkestone Bridge at night again.

What did you see? The Bellamont Sisters, Bonny Prince Charlies troops or did you hear the sound of horses approaching at speed?

I usually dismiss ghost stories as just vivid imagination but my mum always tells one that has me wondering. (I don't remember any of this happening by the way. My mum is very down to earth and sensible though).

When I was about 2 or 3 I used to sit at the top of the stairs chatting away to someone. My mum always put this down to me having an imaginary friend until one day I was very upset. Mum asked me what the matter was and I told her the old lady was going away and couldn't talk to me anymore. She asked what old lady and I described my grandmother exactly, right down to her hair colour, her eye colour and the colour of the clothes she was wearing. My grandmother had died when I was 6 months old. You could put this down to me seeing a photo of course but there's only black and white family photos existing of her and to this day I have no idea what her hair and eye colour were. Can't explain that one at all.

Young kids seem to be "very good" at this type of thing,
Similar occurrence here with my young daughter, she'd sit up in her cot and point and giggle. later as she learned to talk,
she'd be having conversations, it turns out ( by description) that it was my Grand father who had died many years before she was born.
There were no pictures of him in the house, and this continued on and off for a few years.
It never bothered her, she just took it as a normal occurrence.

I have no idea about the intelligence of the average 2 or 3 year old, but can't help wonder if your mum is filling in some gaps in your 'description'?

Maybe. I did say I don't remember any of this so I can't confirm if it happened that way or not. All I can say is my mum isn't one to exaggerate things though. Makes a good story whatever.

The real mystery in this thread is....................................... Where is Adam Forbiddenbiker), doesn't seem to have been around anywhere for ages

Not too long ago I was fishing a club match on a dark but clear Sunday evening on a local mark known as "the blockhouse", on Hadston beach- the north end of Druridge bay.
A couple of hours into the session I cast out, put my rod on the tripod, and sat down on my tackle box to bait up my next rig.
My head was down for around 3 minutes.
When I looked up again.....my rod butt was out of the tripod bottom cup and the tip section was only an inch or so connected to the spigot joint, as if it had been pulled apart.
The beach was empty, but there were no feelings of "being watched" or "dropping temperature".
I have fished there many times since that night, but nothing like it has happened again.

This happened when i was 10 during the summer holidays.

I live in Oldham near Manchester. I was sat in the living room watching tv and there was a knock on the door, my mum was in the kitchen cooking so i answered it.
It was 11.45 am. Standing at the door was my Grandad in his bus driving uniform.
He said, "Tell your mum i wont see her for a while but i will see her when i see her".
I told him to come in, he just stood there.
I went to get my mum and told here he was at the door, when she got to the door, nothing. Nobody there.
She bollocked me for lying and having her stop cooking.
45 minutes later, another knock on the door, this time it was the police telling my mum that my grandad had died driving his bus in Southport, massive heart attack.

Months later we heard another odd story.
On the same day, my grandma (his wife) was off work ill and a neighbour used to go round to make her cups of tea and chat.
The neighbour saw my grandad sat facing my grandma chatting as if nothing had happened.
When she went into the house my grandad was nowhere in sight.

Seeing some of these stories reminds me of family in the Orkney Islands. The father sadly died leaving his wife and 2 children who were in their late teens at the time. I have met and spent time with the family and they are very down to earth, kind solid people, anyhoo..

A few day after the funeral the mother was visited by her husband who said he was OK and not to worry. The mother went down to breakfast the next morning and so did the kids. They were all quiet and when the mother asked why the kids were quiet the said thathey were visited in the night by their father. The mother was shocked as all of them had the same experience. They were not dreams as they all claimed to have been awake when this happened.

As a paranormal investigator I have had loads and loads of things happen to me, experienced lots of weird stuff and been blown away by different mediums coming up with the same information about a place and person given to us over a 5 year period. I strongly believe there is something out there beyond our understanding BUT I do also believe that about 90% of what people experience has a natural explanation. Real weird unexplainable paranormal happenings are few and far between. The good thing is they do happen to many people. Sadly some of it is negative or comes across as negative.

The only way we are going to know 100% is when we depart.

Just remembered that I made a video that contains some quite remarkable EVP's. After the music on the video, turn your speakers up or pop on some headphones.
