A friend of mine in the US has just taken up photography,
Well that is he has just moved from a cheap point and shoot to
Canon 1100D kit lens and a siggy 150-500.
And I've been helping him with a little "distance learning"

He sent me these and asked WTF?
I've no idea either, as you can see it only in 2 out of 3 images.

Is it still showing on more recent pictures ?
Has he changed lenses before or after ?
To me it looks like something on the lens causing light refraction
as although the shape is similar it does seem to have moved/distorted
 
Just those 2 apparently out of the series he took
the other one is there just for comparison,
and they were taken in that order.
I believe they were all shot with the siggy 150 500
(I guess that explains it :D)
 
That's a bit of glare from a piece of lint either on the inner glass or on the outer lens :)

Glad its not Aliens then,
Did I say he lives near Rothwell? ;)

I'll ask him if he has a green-ish cleaning cloth :)
 
It looks like its evident in the first image albeit slightly fainter

I live near a town called Rothwell and there's certainly a few odd sights there ;)

LOL actually I know the one you mean, I've driven by it a few times, I didn't dare stop either :D

I've had answer back,
The lens has been nowhere near anything green.
once the images were put in the PC the first thing he did was to check the lens
for fibres etc.
Nothing showed.
Loads of pictures have been taken since those images
with nothing untoward showing whatsoever.
 
It's definitely an alien. Probably a highly evolved, time travelling ebola based life form.

Nothing to worry about.
