I have been wondering over the last couple of days about Getty Image or similar sites.

1) what are the alternatives?

2) what kind of pictures are they looking for?

basically I would like to contribute...why not make a few pennies off the pictures anyway.

anyone is doing this casually or seriously got any advise to give? also I don't know what other sites there are, so would like to know alternatives and differences...

Microstock is an option for that with Shuttterstock being the biggest. Also less big but iStock (getty). Alamy for more mid-stock range.

You can get a couple of hundred of dollars a month (or a few thousand, depending on volume). You generally don't get much per image unless its a rarer big licence sale but the money comes from high volumes of downloads instead.

As for what type of thing they're after, just look on their sites under popular for an idea.
