I'm super happy today. Went to Getty images in Camden this afternoon. I'm pleased to brag that they've offered me a contract as a contributer. I've just got to wait for them to add me to their system and It's full steam ahead.

Press photographer assignments, mainly covering events with celebrities. Such as film premieres, although they already have those covered by other togs, but I'm sure you get the idea.

I'v always wondered tho, if you provide images to Getty, don't you have to be working for another company or something...like already be a press photographer?

How do you become a photographer for Getty?

I heard once that you need at minimum a 1Ds and 3 testicles. They don't even have to be your own ;) I know a guy in America who became a Getty tog too. He does a LOT of HDR work, more than me! He does travel a hell of a lot which is why I think they hired him.

I was working on an assignment for another agency I'm already with. A photographer from a division of Getty that normally works on the picture desk, watched how I worked. We started chatting and he asked if I would be interested in supplying them as they have gaps in certain areas. I had to supply links to pictures with my other agency as well as other sample images. I then went in (by appointment) with magazines containing pictures of mine. They asked about my contacts I have in the industry, which was also important.

So in my case I had to prove I was up for the job as it were. They will now give me jobs/assignments to do as well as finding my own work with my existing contacts.

I'm working for the editorial division, they don't need huge files for that.
Getty Images News and Sport standard file size 3000 pixels on the longest dimension. You should jpeg compress your files at "high" (#8) if you are using Photoshop version 5.5 or better and baseline standard. See technical info.

For the creative division, I'd guess they would need huge files.
 
I started working for Getty Images on assignments they send me. If your interested on the getty web site, click editorial and enter Nat Jag in the search box, and you'll see some of my pics.
 
Now THATS the work i want!! i just need to fins out how to work a camera!! eer.. whats a camera???
