Dennis is just arriving bang on time . Been quite calm here north wales coast all morning so far , few good gusts now coming through ,bird feeders starting to sway ... here we go again

Its been blowing up all morning here, not much rain save a drop overnight.
But checking the radar, the main event is not to far away over here, and should be here in the next couple of hours.

just popped down to the estuary ,nothing like last week at all YET ??

Damaging gusts here . I had to take the patio table cover off ...4.45pm..as the wind was getting under it and tipping the table and it’s a heavy long table.. I untied it from the leg supports..they’re 3” wide vertically with a 4’ base ....with difficulty, took it from the last leg and as I stood up I was knocked to the ground by a very strong, roaring gust. These winds are as bad as those associated with Ciara. It seems like it even if in reality they aren’t. The emphasis was on very heavy rain so I assume there’s been a sudden drop in pressure . Locally, the Severn is very high with the A417 in the city at risk of being closed again. On the regional news just now a Highways spokesman is suggesting that outlying areas adjacent to the river might be needing help. Doesn’t look promising over the next 24 hours.

Two trees down at the end of nextdoor’s garden here in Guildford. Nothing damaged thankfully. It’s blowing nicely now.

Things to do during a storm:
1. Watch storm through window
2. Watch storm on telly
3. Listen to storm
4. Tell people to listen to storm
5. Read about storm
6. Talk about storm
7. Post online about storm
8. Have a sleep
9. Do a jigsaw
10. Cancel plans

11. Carry on as normal!

Can't hear the wind blowing like we could last weekend. No rain as such just drizzle. Just got back from the mother in laws, drive along the A12 wasn't too bad, the many potholes cause more of a problem ( I swear they increase in number each week).
Pulled into our road and there is a small tree down, laying on the pavement.

Bit of a non-event here, East Yorks. A bit of rain and its slightly breezy but nothing like last week.

Now that was some skillful landing today.

We had a landing like that landing at Luton around 40yrs ago, just as we were coming into land a gust of wind blew the nose around, all the passengers seemed quite calm and we gave the captain a standing ovation as we were about to get off the plane.

Got woken up by the wind at around 6:00 this morning, still not as noisy as last weekend though. The sound of the wind didn't last long, an hour maybe then it was just rain. Rain has gone quiet or stopped, just the odd blast of wind, now and again.

Over in Suffolk the wind has dropped to a gentle breeze and its just stopped raining. Wonder what the rest of the day has in store? Looking at the sky not much in the way of photography for me anyway,,,

Certainly shows the power of the weather, excellent bit of flying too.
We had something similar just before Christmas 1986 trying to land in a blizzard at Innsbruck.
Two aborted attempts then landed on the third and last go before diverting elsewhere.
It was once an airport noted for its accidents and at one time only jets with three or more engines were allowed to land there
We were on one of the airlines that could access it because of their small four engined Bae146

Dennis found the pressure washer around 03:30 this morning, and woke me up cleaning the bedroom windows.
Similar a few mile south and he even had the decency to clean the mud off the van too (y)

Now its just a typical summers day ....
wet and windy...

I thought it odd that the tree blown down at the end of our road yesterday, happened when it wasn't particularly windy. Turns out it was nothing to do with the wind, a DPD delivery driver had reversed into it. :)

Are we still talking about the weather?
Lay off the baked beans ;)
