Yes
I'm still not sure which way to go with this but I thought I'd solicit some opinion.

I'm going to make a photobook for my night city scape series that I worked on through the winter, I'm not sure on size yet and I'm not sure but I think I'd like a couple of them blown up.
I'm trying to decide whether to farm out and get them rescanned by a pro lab. It's only 20 frames but likely spread out amongst 100-150 frames and maybe one or two 54.

Looking at peak they do machine scans and output jpg at 25mp which as far as I can tell is 3600 ppi on the long side, these cost £1.85. If I go up to their Custom Scan service the same size file is delivered as a tif and cost £4.50. Not sure what the advantage of the custom scan is and I'm not sure if there is any real benefit in spending £90 on scans that may end up going to a book only 8x8.

Also how does one indicate what frame they'd like scanned?

Why not give them a ring?

UK Film Lab also d scans of existing film. I don't know if they just do the full roll (that's what I asked for, though it was cut strips I sent). Cost was the same as dev and scan.

There's also Tim Parkin for drum scans, probably one of the cheaper of the top shops... but by no means cheap.

And maybe have a PM chat with a couple of midlands folk on here, if one of them hasn't blown himself up on the Diamond XRay machine... (they'll think of themselves as northerners, what can you do?)

I resemble that remark...

Oh, and no casualties reported from Diamond, somehow...

Yeah i'll contact them once I've decided what I want to do. I'm still not sure about the whether its worth doing....

One thing I did this year was make a calendar from some old film family snaps. Trips round Scotland, that sort of thing; my wife didn't get given her usual massive Scotland calendar by the kids. The scans could certainly have been better...
