I have a really nice picture that i like but it was shot during low light and the sun is coming through a window in the background causing it to overexpose a lot.

I was wondering if anyone has any tips on on how to get rid of this, i have tried cloning it which doesn't seem to bad over the window but their is a light cast on the carpet which i am a bit unsure of how to get rid of.

Anyway ill link the images and let you decide the best way to get rid of it.

and this is my attempt so far at cloning it out, still a bit of work to do at the top but unsure on how to do the carpet as well.

Thanks,

You haven't done a bad job, the carpets blown in the corner so you won't pull it back, I just cloned a bit of the carpet over it and darkened the background a little, a hint of sharpening on Milly to finish, very roughly done I'm afraid.

Nice job Wayne

When I cloned I used a low opacity as I wanted the carpet to get lighter as it nears the window, I don't think it'll look right otherwise, I just wanted a hint of texture there.

Ahh, that makes sense, i was going to clone it before the post but was unsure on how to keep the light gradually changing. Ill have a look at this after maybe and let you know how it goes.
