Its the best feeling in the world :D my wife is into snake and im not to put it bluntly

This is the only way id handle her snakes a few months ago.

This was me yesterday

You just gotta be brave and take small steps and you can get over any phobia imo

Well done Manc. I know getting over phobias can be hard, personally i've never had a problem with sankes, wouldn't say I love em, but i'd hold hold if i needed too....... come to think of when the hell would I NEED too! But you see what I mean. I dont like wasps or bee's just the buzzing makes me 'jump', i'm not affraid of the insect just of what it can do if you to you p1$$ it off! which is why I tend to run away like a girl!  :embarrassed:

That's great! I wouldn't say I had a phobia, but I wouldn't have dreamed of touching one until I was persuaded by a mate some years ago. It was a real surprise - nothing slimy or unpleasant about them at all - quite the reverse in fact.

Don't have a snake phobia matter of fact used to raise amelenistic corn snakes but I am petrified of escalators! When I'm in London and have to go on them in the tube I shake and sweat and my heart beats a mile a minute.... Doing it more just seems to make me worse not better. Good for you though getting over your fear!

I wonder how you confront the fear of falling from a plane sans 'chute...
?

Hmmm ... are you sure m8 ...

Only the first pic is not the same snake as the second ... and there is a significant difference in size between the Royal and the Corn (?) ...

Progress I would call it ... excellent progress ... way to go ML ...

The Royal is fully grown yes ... ... a tad bigger than mine then ...:D

The royal is an adult yeah, we have two of them the one in the pic is a fully grown adult of unknown origin. We have a CB06 Royal as well, a columbian rainbow boa who is nearly 6 feet, a checkered garter snake, and in the picture is our adult albino califonia kingsnake. what snakes do you have?

I decided i had to get over my phobia when our boa escaped its vivarium, i went down the pub and told the wife i wouldnt be back till she found it. When the pubs closed i had to go to my mums  I have a tiny flat and this thing is 6 feet long, i couldnt understand how she lost it!! but it got underneath a drawer in the TV cabinet. :suspect: She wants a big snake for christmas now, and if 6 foot isnt big i dunno what is. She aint getting one thats for sure :D

Bod if you like my b****r grips ill let you feel them for 50p ;)

Good on ya! I have a phobia of moths and butterflies - there is no way in this world I would touch one though - even with gloves on :gag:
Was it an actual phobia you had of snakes or a severe dislike? I can't even bring myself to go into a room where I know there is a moth as I get palpitations, feel sick, clammy, and start to panic and shake. One got into the bathroom recently when I was taking a shower and I went absolutely hysterical :embarrassed:

How did you overcome your fear?

I really hate spiders. Figured the best way to solve that is to get a tarantula.

Haven't quite talked myself into it yet....

I like snakes... at least I think I do. Never handled one, but I'd love to find out...

Besides, as it stands, whenever I see a nice snake I think 'Hmmmm, boots'!

Held them in my bike gear to start off with, then id just touch the end away from its head. Then id let it go across the palm of my hand, and going up to holding it myself then i knew i was over it when i was happy to go to a viv and pull one out.

Ive also got a phobia of birds (feathered not women  ) and i have no intention of going near any. Quite recently i went to a truck show (got a mate into trucks :geek: ) and they had a display of owls and i had to go round the back of it and meet everyone on the other side
