Yes
My plan one day is to get on the other side of fence.

To get on the other side of the fence i need to have Media Accreditation, to get Media Accreditation i need to show examples of a couple of pieces of my work which have been published. And to work for someone that will publish the pictures.

How is the best way to get motorsport pictures published?

Thanks,

Jon

local papers? Matt Sayle was printed in his from and Oulton park trip...

get a job working for matt :)

youre best bet is to find a local driver, then contact the local paper to see if you can write an article on that driver and supply the pics too..
Motorsport organisers love local papers.. even very local ones

 @ Gary!

I am trying my upmost to get one in Autosport atm. I have tried 7 times and failed all seven. You just have to stick with it and just keep trying. The two publishings i have acheived is from two local papers. One mine and one the drivers. Just stick it with it and send ALL interesting pictures to publications. I.e crashes, celebrations, driver shots that sort of thing :)

Get along to track days / track night. Learn to pan and shoot. Get good, get good shots, move on from there. Approach local papers (even free ones) offer pics for photo credit. Once you get one or two published then you've got what you need.

I would suggest trying to locate a number of local club level drivers who are quite successful in whatever championship they are racing in. Local papers like local sportsmen and women who are doing well, and they like it even better if they don't have to do any work.

I'm on year 2 of my plan for world domination <muhahahahahahah / strokes cat>. I've been able to tick off a few personal ambitions and milestones this year, but there are many more I want to do - eg a shot in Autosport and a few of the higher end glossy monthly car mags for example.

Hi Jon

What i did was take loads of shots of a supporting series like say " Lotus Elise races" offer some of your best shots free to their website, bear in mind this has got to be a lesser supporting series so are crying out for feebies. Once they put a couple on ask if they would mind giving you a letter so that you can take even better shots for them. pull that off then ok you supply a website with free shots but its all published work, combined wit the letter it should get you the other side of the fence at some top stuff.

Worked for me. I have done the last 2 A1GP at Brands last years World Touring Cars at Brands, BTCC at Brands, Thruxton, Snetterton . Also MSA stuff at Donnington which i had a photo published in the programme.

Hope this helps.

Good luck and above all enjoy ;)

But try not to do too much stuff for free or you will under cut all the photographers that like to get paid ;)

couldn't agree more. sorry should have said that in my previous post.
stick to the one site for free and say offer so many free for the website over a certain number start to charge, and if they want to do other stuff with them charge.
