I'm due to get married in a few months time and I really don't know what to do about a photographer. Due to the cost of the wedding our budget is very tight and I'm not sure if we can afford a professional photographer. I need some help.

1 - How much do photographers charge for weddings? I've seen some for £300 and others for £3,000. Why are some photographers so expensive? I've seen some advertise in the local paper and they look like quite good value.

2 - My mate got married a couple of months ago and his uncle's second cousin's stepbrother did the photography. He wasn't a professional as they didn't have much money either but he did have two nice cameras which looked expensive and his photographs were very good. Should I ask him and maybe bung him a few quid for his fuel?

3 - How do I know if the photographer is any good? Is it to with the size of his equipment or his attitude?

4 - Should I forget about the stretched Humvee as the wedding car and the five tier cake and maybe spend the money on photographs?

Does this sound familiar? I'm sure you see this all the time.

:p

:woot: you stirrer, Colin!

Nice one.

hehe snigger :P

Gte a limo, best one money can buy, infact don't hire it, buy it.
Then hire me to do the photography.
I'm far better than anyone else and i'll do it for free on my Canon A40

I've got a box brownie an a candle, will that do?

p.s. I really do have a box brownie and I'm sure there is a candle somewhere.

Don't use Him, I'll pay you to do your shots and supply the catering too.

anyone got a match for my candle?:p

Do it yourself, lazy sod :p

I can't make the wedding, too far to travel but I have a Kodak P880 that someone could borrow if they don't have a camera.

Has built in flash and everything

Due to high fuel costs, I wont be able to travel that far, but I could post the camera to you and you can send it back once the wedding has been snapped. Then I can run them through Photoshop.

PS. It doesnt matter how good the photographer is cos Photoshop can solve EVERYTHING

Not another one of these threads omg.

Better still dont get married and spens 10 grand on a nice camera like a d3 with all prime lensses and go and do wedding photography-doesnt matter if you dont know what your doing as this seems to be the in thing today.

The d3 will take the picture for you also-just sit back and get drunk-they come with legs now and will do the wedding for you LOL

if you havent got a flame thrower dont do the job, you need the equipment:lol:

I only want to illuminate the wedding party not incinerate them:naughty:

I really think everyone is going a bit over the top here.
The sarcasm must end NOW!!!.....................................................................................................

Use your mobile phone camera, then use it to ring all your mates to tell them that your a pro wedding photographer:lol::lol:

Dean:)

Or lets do it with etcha sketch, pre digital but still able to delete and redo any cock ups

Equip every guest with a disposable camera and hope for the best...

I'm sure i've got a kodak disposable around somewhere, it might be a year or two out of date but we'll put that under 'creative interpretations' shall we...

Lol, you say that but we actually did that at a corporate event where the wine was flowing somewhat freely and the pics were brilliant! :cuckoo:

Glad to hear you are going to make an honest woman of her Colin.;)

I don't normally do weddings but for you I would make an exception.:D

Did that at our wedding, got some hilarious results

We also had a photographer as well

Had some on my wedding as well. Technically all the photos were rubbish, but there were a lot of fun shots that add to the memory of the day. One table kept their camera :( - I suspect there were some incriminating photos on it!

How fishy was that Hacker?! I knew something weren't right right from the off!
