Getting data off an iphone to move to android

My wife is changing from her 4s to a nexus 4, I have tried everything to get the data off the iphone but cannot. I can't even get her iphone to back up to icloud. I have tried various things, syncing with outlook (contacts & calendar) but nothing syncs. icloud says it's backed up but when I log in it's empty.

Anyone done this or have any ideas?

Why not sync to windows contacts?

I think the most effective way is to import all the data into google mail account. If it is all online that shouldn't cause too much of a problem, if it is in the claws of local iOS storage, you need to get it to the icloud. I am sure apple store would help you there if everything else fails.

Exactly if you are moving to android synch it the google account. That will have everything ready in the right place. Unfortunately android is not standards compliant and cannot pick up the caldav nor carddav from iCloud. Bit of a shame. But unless you have a name like mine double barrelled, pre fix, space in surname, post fix, you'll be fine.

When I tried that on my iphone, itunes announced that on syncing it would delete all the contacts on my phone and replace them with my google contacts (of which there are none).

Unsurprisingly I declined.

i use easy phone sync - it copied all my itunes stuff onto my galaxy s3 - if i can find a copy i'll pm you

Even if you don't want to use Gmail, just create an account and keep all your contacts/calendar synced there. When I get a new phone now I just have to set up my google account and I'm done.

So how did you do it then? Can't find a "send all contacts from my PC to my gmail account" option on my phone either in Contacts or in Settings, but maybe I'm overlooking something obvious.

I created a gmail account and tried to sync with gmail, but itunes wouldn't let it.. Icloud still isn't backing up. I undated to 6.1 and it backed up with outlook, I then exported calendar and contacts as csv files and imported into google.. nearly there..
