Getting back into photography

Hello all,

this forum was mentioned on a music forum I frequent, so thought I'd give it a go.

I've become interested in photography again after many years of lapse. In the old days I loved my OM10.

I've recently lashed out on a Canon EOS30D with kit zoom and have added a longer zoom to the setup. I'm hoping to add some prime lenses and eventually would like to get into bird (feathered ones) photography. I'm hoping to soak up some info here from the panel of experts...

Living where I do, in the sticks on the N. Wales/Shropshire border, there is lots of landscape and wildlife to avail of.
 
Thanks for the welcome guys. I'll probably be fairly quiet for a while, as

(a) it helps mask my ignorance ;)

and

(b) there's so much good stuff here for a newbie to take in, so I'll be reading for a while!:D
