Hey Peeps..

just a little bit of a niggle....

ive got an OP/TECH USA camera strap.. and its really starting to annoy me!.

it seems like everytime i pick the camera up the strap either ends up between my eye and the view finder or across the lens!

do you experiance the same? do you have any tips that can help me?

:bang:

cheers

I get that sometimes too, even when it's around my neck it manages to stand gaurd over the viewfinder when I lift the camera to my eye lol

I had this problem too. When picking up your camera, just get into the habit of guiding the strap between the second and third fingers of your right hand. This automatically guides the strap away from the viewfinder.

Who said photography was easy?

Good tip Bob, exactly this kind of response i was hoping for! lol.. oh the simple things in life!:bonk:

I got a Black Rapid, that solved that problem.

:agree:

There's also a cheapy version that's advertised on here that I've heard good things about. I was on CadWest on Monday with a guy who had one. It certainly looked as sturdy as the Black Rapid. :)

Me too, i do a lot of walking and the black rapid is superb for that and the strap is never in the way.

I would never now be without my blackrapid - people seem all to ready to spend £££ on bodies and lenses yet then baulk at the price of a decent strap.

Another vote for blackrapid straps. They really are fantastic.
I was extremely hesitant when I brought one, but it was well worth it after I had used it the first few times, I couldn't imagine going back to a neck strap.

However

I dont always use it, it depends entirely on the situation and what lens I am using. Smaller, light lenses like my 50mm 1.8, I'll be quite happy to walk around in a quiet area without using any sort of strap, as due to the weight it doesn't feel like it could slip out of my grip easily.

However, if my 24-70 is on, I will always use a strap for that extra security, just incase the weight starts taking its toll on my grip increasing the chances of it slipping.

Someone on here mentioned a few weeks ago about an offer from one of the photography magazines. The free gift for a year subscription was a black rapid strap, and to be fair the cost of the subscription was only a few £ more than buying the strap anyway, but at least you get a years mag subscription too

May be worth looking into.
