Getting A Clear White Background

It would help if you could clarify what you have set up so far: Am I right in thinking that you are pointing the two heads from the kit you bought at the back wall of the Lastolite using the side vents (i.e. one on each side)? And what are you using to light your subject in front of the Lastolite exactly?

One head in the right hand side vent of hilite (half way up - 45 degrees to the right so pointing to the back)
Other head on subject in the form of softbox.

You are getting there..

Does your camera show 1.3" or 13 as ideally you want 125 which is 125th of a sec.

Your background is a tad too bright as on your shoulders the light is flaring across your shirt. Just turn it down slightly..

Front softbox should be 45 degrees to subject slightly above.

ah ok, so just the two light setup. I'm impressed that the Lastolite can be evenly lit with that single head. I didn't think it would have enough power. Is the whole background evenly lit with it?

Agree with you both - definitely getting there. Looking fwd to the near-perfect result by the end of today :)

How about this?

I think i am right in saying softbox is right of camera.

Models right side looks better but front softbox now needs moving further back slightly as it is too bright on models left.

My monitor is not calibrated but background looks good.
