Yet another Darren in this thread:p So far I've never found another Darren who's older than me (47) when I first met my wife and told her my name was Darren she said that's a 10 year old boys name :bat:

Born in Northants in an era where kids played outside and roamed for miles without parents having a clue where they were, moved to Cheshire in 1990

My whole life i've never had a clue what I wanted to do for a living, somehow I ended up with my own transport business, it's only me and a pickup with a trailer though before I start misleading people into thinking I'm Eddie Stobart.

I've always been into photography as the 10,000 photos in the attic of the back 1/3 of an aircraft or a blurred racing car will testify

Hi everyone, I'm Paolo Gramatica. I was born in Italy 45years ago tomorrow!

I have a lovely wife of 21 years (celebrated remotely 3 days ago), and 2 lovely kids from our love: Raffaele, 15yrs, and Cesare, 8. We currently live in Italy, a small town called Predore on the Lake Iseo. If anyone ever comes over that part of the woods ... let me know, we could meet.

I lived in South Africa for 14 years where I basically grew up, then started working. My work has taken me to several interesting countries, and my current job as Field Service Representative (a fancy name in my case for a dumb technician!) takes me all over Europe and some. I am currently writing from Turkey (hence my "remote" anniversary with my wife 3 days ago!). But I am going home tomorrow!!!!!!:D

I have tried a few hobbies, but cannot get enough passion to keep going. I have always enjoyed photography, although I am not sure she loves me!:). I have CanonBob to thank for introducing me to this forum full of really interesting people (and this thread proves it!). I hope that my (few) skills will develop with time (lots of it I suppose). So far photography is the only hobby which has kept me going. Got a Nikon D40x about a year ago, but still have not been able to put it through its paces as I am seldom home, and when I am .... I can't just take photo's!

Oh BTW, I forgot to mention that at home we have a dog, Lady, and 2 cats, Coccolina and Fuffi.

i like taking portraits " sure no one knew that "

dave:wave:

Aw shucks :D

To be honest, Ive never taken so quickly to a forum more than I have with TP. Ive seen some crap forums, full of people ready to jump on you, where you cant have a decent discussion, full of complete ******, but this place has restored my faith :)

Guess I should do one of these then:

Real name is Tom, I am erm....25 (I think) still live with my parents due to lack of funds. I am single have no pets at the moment (though neighbors cat treats our house as her place to sleep during the day while her family are out). I am self employed and work from home (hence why the cat loves it). I have been into photography for longer than I can remember, grew up with some sort of camera in my hand. Erm...what else? I am an overweight vegetarian (fairly rare breed) I am a geek, though only information that actually interests me stays in my brain. I have a degree in Media Production.....and I dont like witting about myself!

Now off to find the animated gifs made of DarkStar playing frisbee some time ago (and hope that I stumble accross some more photos of his daughter!)

OK, my real name is Cat, I'm 27, I have a geology degree and have just finished writing a PhD on ancient climate. I am about to move back in with my parents over the summer then I'll be starting work in Scotland in October (just as it starts to get really dark!).
I am new to photography and my other hobbies are scuba diving, triathlon and hillwalking - although for the last 6 months I haven't had time to do much of any of them!
I'm hoping I'll manage a trip to somewhere exotic over the summer and get some photos there.

Arite, I'm Alistair and I'm 20 and from Dundee in Scotland. My hobbies include Photography and Basketball. I'm a fully trained photographer to HNC level; I've also been very lucky IMO to work with film at all formats and at b/w, colour neg and my favourite colour transparency. I'm taking a year out just to work this year and gain some more money and I'm then going to finish of my photography education and become a teacher hopefully! I love basketball and as a lot of people on this board I hope know, I enjoy mixing my two favourite things together and taking photos of basketball or sports for that matter. In basketball I work with children from 12 years old to 17 and 18 year olds in a local school but also with my Basketball club. These players play at all levels from beginners right the way to top international level players. I spend between 6-10 hours voluntary a week coaching and I'm lucky enough to be coaching in an America at this very moment and learning from some of the games best coaches. I also enjoy a good game of golf I might add :D Other than that I have a lot of great friends and a lot of great people around me, who I enjoy spending time with.

I'll join in...

I'm Mike, I'm 27, and I live in a village in between Northampton and Milton Keynes. I'm looking for a fantastic looking woman between 20 and 30, who's good in the kitchen... oh wait, wrong site!

Anyway, I work for a motorsport photography agency based at Silverstone, which takes me all over the world. That's quite nice... hard work though!

Besides that, I like mountain biking, reading, computers, driving, and drinking beer. Oh, and I can play the piano and the guitar - not very well though!

Well, i'm Darren, i live in North Devon, a little town called South Molton, with my fiancee, and our two cats. I love BMX, and have been riding for nearly 20 years. I like drawing, especially tattoo flash, and used to be a very active graffiti artist when i lived in Birmingham, this is the mainstay of tattoo flash i design. When i am not doing this i am very into my Japanese cars, i own a Civic Type R, and spend a lot of timee and money on this. I love Heroes, Lost and Deadliest Catch on TV. And spend some time on XBOX360 playing Call Of Duty 4, if you wanna play, my gamertag is Rufus The Long:thumbs:

PM me your tag if you don't mind ;) I'm from brum, knew a few graf guys here, was on the hip hop scene, did bmx myself and skate in the mid 90s.

My name is Ian. I hail from the states. Tupelo, Mississippi to be exact. The birthplace of Elvis Presley!! I've never even been in his birthplace. lol.

I'm married to the lovely Bokeh (at least that's who she is known as on these forums :))

We both love photography and have started a small part-time business hoping it will turn into something grand. We have a small list of clients, but with both of us having full-time 8-5 jobs, it's hard booking shoots. We also have 3 kids between the two of us, so scheduling around them is a challenge as well. It's all fun though!

By day, I am an mainframe analyst for a 13 billion dollar financial institution. I've been there for almost 12 years, starting straight out of high school. I recently put in a transfer for a position with our ISSA(network security) group. I think I'm getting an offer on the job tomorrow... Hopefully!

Other than that, I love sports and play pretty much anything whenever I get the chance. I have a cat named Dola-Brun and a Great Dane named Moose.

That's about it. :P

Well I feel like doing this as I want to spend more time here :)

My name is Colin, I'm 27 and living in Prague. I'm originally from Plymouth in beautiful Devon. I live in a flat with my girlfriend of 2 years Nell and our cat cherrie (a seal colourpoint ragdoll).

I studied engineering at university although it took me long enough to get through, my heart was just never in it, that's probably the most dissapointing thing in my life so far, knowing that I easilly had the potential to get a MEng but cruised and only got a BSc. Still we live and learn and I feel that I'm more determined than ever looking back and having realised that we have to make the most of what we can.

I'm currently working as an analyst in a call centre here in Prague, I really don't like it as I feel like I'm wasted. I have however got a new job lined up for September as a global analyst for the European sales division of a company with a Silicon Valley HQ. I have aspirations to move into engineering but it's difficult not having experience as generally junior positions deal with the factory floor and as I don't speak Czech that's a problem.

I'd really like to start a buiness of my own at some point firstly as extra income from my full time job but in the future with enough hard work earn enough for me to be my own boss. I just need to find a business idea lol.

I love photography and have been doing it since my mid teens when I saved up for ages and bought a EOS 500 for £200. I still haven't completely found my niche yet but I really want to start doing studio/portrait work, which is out of character because I've always been quite shy and not really a people person but I enjoyed the tasters I've had of it.

I have quite a short attention span which is why my longer posts may be quite choppy to read as my mind flits back and forth :p

I'm quite an active person but haven't really done much recently as my gf isn't really an outdoors person. When I liven in the UK nearly every Sunday without fail I was on Dartmoor walking for 8 hours just enjoying the peace and having long talk about not much in particular. In the past I've done the three peaks, been to the Alps on 3 occasions for climbing and summer mountaineering. I also enjoy swimming and mountain biking.

I also enjoy my cooking and and am the cook of the household, I cook for myself as in I cook what I want to eat and the gf just has to put up with it :)

In the future maybe a move to Austrailia is on the cards.

It feels wierdly liberating to tell a load of people you've never met about yourself, however the never met part could change if anyone wants to have a free tour of Prague :)

This is me :) :

n274702227_1630.jpg

I'm 21 and I'm currently studying a Photography degree and Hereford College of Arts! :)

I live in a converted Oast House in Herefordshire, with my parents, at the moment!

I'm soon to be moving in with my better half, Kris, who's 33 and an Electrician. He's moving down from Darlington (250 miles north) and has made me the happiest person on the planet! :)

Between us, we own 5 Classic Minis. A Mini 25, A Mini City, A Mini 1275GT, A Mini 30 and A Mini Pick-up! :D

We're not obsessed.

I'm in the process of making my own website for my future photography company. Things are going well so far!

I would love to own a little art gallery/coffee shop. Mainly selling organic products and with a wide range of vegetarian options. Not that I'm a tree-hugger, but I love the idea of going back to basics and being able to grow your own produce!

I'm also a very keen swimmer and have competed in galas all over the country. I don't race so much anymore, I just enjoy the training now.

So that's me! :D

Hello! :)

Bumpity Bump - Lots of new people since this was made :)

I'm Nattelie. Married to a wonderful man and we have 3 cats - I'm a total kitty addict! I like to craft, anything really, cards, scrapbooks, flower arrangements, hair accesories, anything really, but I do get restricted cause my hands don't work properly. I've always been an arty person, I tried nearly all of the arts, martial arts, drawing, painting, sculpting, drama, music etc etc, I still play flute a little bit but now the only art that is really open to me is photography as my abilities in the others are restricted (dodgy arms and legs = wheels). I live in Newcastle but I grew up in County Durham. Not really a fan of TV, though I do watch some - but I'm an internet addict. I've had cameras since I was 8, shot anything I could, but only recently got a DSLR. Even now I find undeveloped film lying around! lol I'm a self confessed shopaholic and adore shoes, I can't wear them very often but, much to hubbys annoyance, that doesn't stop me buying or wanting them, lol. A bit of a girlie girl but love gothicy stuff (can't stand the emo craze though!). I'm a bit of a diplomat and like to try to keep the peace.

Wow, well done Jimmy, ok, here goes.

I'm Mike, 25, Dont get drunk, Smoke Cigars occasionally but gave up smoking cigarettes just over 2 years ago.
Was Born in Hull, Now living in Peterborough. Moved around a bit when i was younger, but my dad left when i was 10 and i gained alot more stability after that. No longer speak to my dad as he is a total t*sser.
I'm a massive football fan and Love West Ham United, i also like NFL and follow the New England Patriots.
I like many kinds of music, including Death metal, Punk, Jazz, Acoustic and many other things in between. I used to do alot of live music photography for about 4ish years but gave it up as it took the passion out of music for me. I used to go to many gigs when i was younger, all across the UK but no longer venture out far. I also used to put on gigs in Peterborough but had to stop due to things going on in my life at the time, would be interested to start that again as i met some great bands and became good friends with some of them.
I like Gardening and want to grow my own veg.
I'm arrogant, egotisical and heavily opinionated. I don't care though because i like being me. I'm getting married September 5th to a really gorgeous woman, who without her my life might still be spiralling out of control
I'm not really a massive person for going out and get a rash at the thought of going to a nightclub, but did venture out on the saturday just gone for a mates return from Dubai and actually had a really good night.
I can't spell for **** but am very good with numbers.

I'm bored of boring you now so i will let you form your own opinion of me. Come find me in the IRC but prepare to be offended! haha!

Mike

Great idea for a thread.

Hi all, like my avatar my name is also Tommy.

I live in Irvine, Scotland with my girlfriend (oops fiancee now since last month) Anne-Marie and our lovely 7yr old daughter Melody.

Worked in a factory for far too long and then tried my hand at a few other things before some back troubles made me a stay at home daddy while me other half goes to work.

On the photography side of things I got my first SLR (a Zenith EM) back in the early 80's but never really pursued the snapping with much interest until this year when I got my 400D, which Anne-Marie thinks has been really good for me as it's given me a fresh outlook on life in general and she reckons has given me a whole new and improved zest for things.

Away from photography I'm a diehard Celtic fan, love the fitba. Usually found with my nose in a book and also try to get out and about for some birdwatching and general walks in the country when I can.

All the best

Tommy.

Hi. I am Keith. I am 56 years old (although in my head I'm still in my twenties:lol:) and I live in Havant, just outside Portsmouth (where I was born). I have also lived in Plymouth, Gibraltar and Malta. I have been married to my wonderful wife (I have to say that in case she reads this) Jackie for the past 36 years. I have two grown up children Kerry and Cara. Kerry is single and Cara is married and has given me two super grandchildren.

I have a dog (a bedlington X whippet), 3 Degus and an aviary full of budgies, finches, doves, cockatiels and a lovebird..........all my pets are rescue animals.

I left school at 15 with no qualifications and joined the Royal Navy where I stayed until 1998 (30 years). I then spent some time as a Private Investigator but although the pay was good the hours were too long and anti-social. I have been working on the railway for the past 8 years, currently in a Ticket Office - where I intend to cruise quietly into retirement with no stress and very little responsibility!!

My biggest regret in life is that I missed a lot of my childrens growing up...........I don't intend doing that with my Grandchildren!

I have a Degree in Psychology which took me 6 years to complete through the Open University. I have been vegetarian for about 15 years - basically I don't eat anything that used to have a face!

I used to do a bit of running and played rugby whilst in the RN and also got into Mountain Biking........but since becoming a Civvy I have become fat and lazy (much to the disgust of my son-in-law who is an ex Royal Marine PTI)!! I keep meaning to lose weight and get fit but you know how it is...................! I suddenly realised about 2 years ago that I didn't really have a hobby and quickly got bitten by the photography bug. I also spend far to much time on this forum and I talk to much.............so 'nuff said!

:D

Hi. I'm Paddy. I live in a mudwalled cabin in the west of Ireland. I am a little overweight because of all the potatoes we live on!..... Bacon & cabbage is my favourite food... very traditional!

I'm Marcel.

I'm fat.

You're not that fat, stood next to me you'll look about 11 stone :D

My name is Darren

I'm nearer 50 than 40 :( but can't get enough technology, if I had the money i'd buy every top of the range gadget whether I knew how it worked or not.:D

Married with 2 children aged 9 and 12 and a dog called mollie who is laying beside me snoring her head off.

I run my own light haulage business which like most of the rest of the haulage business from the man with a van to Eddie Stobart is as dead as a doornail.

I spend far too much time on the internet which probably explains the ever expanding waistline

My biggest problem is I can't resist a bargain, I see and I buy , it's that bad I didn't take a credit card when I went to Focus this year:D

Can you remember what you were doing a year and 3 days ago:lol:

Hi. My name is Graeme. I have lived in the UK for just on 4yrs now, having emigrated from South Africa where I worked as a police officer for 11yrs, straight out of school, and seeing things which made me grow up too quickly for my liking. I am happily married to my childhood sweetheart and have two lovely young daughters. I have always been interested in photography, but only really got into it about 6 months ago. It now consumes my life! My wife is now also becoming a keen togger...good news for me, as now I don't have to convince my 'bank manager'.

Great idea for a thread, I've enjoyed reading it, so I'll add to.

My name is Kay, I'm 30. I'm originally from Nottinghamshire (Sutton-in-Ashfield) where I lived til I was 25, when my first full time job took me to Yorkshire (Northallerton) and then to Edinburgh, where I've been for 3 and a half years. I live in a 4th floor flat with my 5yr old goldfish whose name is Disley.

I work for an environmental consultancy as an ecologist, which basically means I spend lots of time away from home doing wiildlife surveys. I specialise in birds but also do alot of work with plants and protected mammals (mainly badgers and bats at the moment but I love doing newt surveys too). It's a great job but at times i wish I wasn't away from home so often.

I've been into photography since I got my 1st camera when I was about 10.

My other main hobby is all about cars. I drive a modified Skoda Fabia vRS, which I take to shows and local meets with a car club I'm in. I am currently saving up for a replica Cobra. I also love watching and photographing motorsport, and a spot of off-roading too.

I also love drawing and painting, and also writing. I'm currently trying to write a novel; I've got around 500 printed pages to re-write at the moment. I started it in 2002 and it's starting to drive me mad now!

I drink way too much tea, and am allergic to omelettes.

Cheers!

Kay. :)

Lovely thread idea, nice to get to know more about you all.

I'm George (Georgina really but I hate it with a passion) and I'm 26. I live in rural Staffordshire. I have one Irish Setter called Murphy who takes up an awful lot of my time but I wouldn't change that at all.

I work in a Private Patient hospital as a senior staff nurse, I hate my job and the sooner I can leave the better but hey it pays the bills and allows for me to keep my hobbies so I try not to complain too much.

I'm a true foodie and have been for around 10 years now ... nothing more relaxing for me than pottering round the kitchen baking away, bread is my ultimate stress reliever (the baking not eating lol). I've always enjoyed photography but it was through my love of food that my love of photography grew; I decided to create a blog of all my 'culinary travels' and as a result had to take some snaps to upload too - I'm now spending as much time on the photography as I am the writing.

I am also in the (very slow) process of writing my first cookery book which I am hoping to do all the photography for myself and then self publish.

:)

Can you remember what you were doing a year and 3 days ago:lol:

:coat:

I stand in the shed with a what the hell am I in here for look on my face, a year and 3 days ago, no chance :D

Can't believe I missed this the first time around  Great thread idea Dee!!

Well.... my real name is Cheryl and I've been a member of TPF for quite a while now. Have loved photography since I was a kid but got my first 'real' camera (Nikon D70) in 2004.

I'm originally from Doncaster, lived in Stockport for 3 years where I trained to be a midwife. I worked in Scunthorpe & Goole for about 6 years then met my man via the internet (yes, really!!) and moved darn sarf to live in Aldershot for 3 years. We emigrated to Canada on New Years eve and I work here as a self employed midwife. I'm extremely fortunate that I have a job I absolutely love and can't imagine doing anything else.

We have no kids and don't intend to have any. We are expecting 2 Bengal kittens  in the late summer though :D

I have discovered that I'm rather good at shooting and recently got my gold badge at the local .22 rifle club :1st: although I could never shoot a living thing :gag:

My name's Dave and i'm an alco........ oops, wrong forum.

My name is Dave, i am 25 and and hail from a little place near Southend, Essex.
After a few wasted years at uni doing a degree that wasn't really going to get me where i wanted to be and a job with no future i eventually was made redundant when the company folded and i fell into a new job working as a structural engineer.
Been doing this job for a couple of years now, i'm back at uni one day a week doing a degree in civil engineering and all is good again.

I have a few hobbies, i tend to be attracted to the more expensive ones, photography being the latest that i started about a year ago. Absolutely loving it, i am currently doing a short course to try and give me a little boost.
My other hobbies are airsoft and car audio, the latter i tend to not announce to most as peoples perceptions are often wrong. I guess you could say i took it to a semi-proffesional level for a couple of years where i was competing in sound quality car audio competiotions all over the country. In my first year i won the rookie UK championship and the following i stepped up a class and won the amateur UK championship. I have also driven to Italy with a few others for the Eurasion finals which i also came fist in my class so not done too badly.

I have a new found love for spiced rum. :)
