Be interesting to know what else everyone is into here, besides photography! Ill go first!

My name is Dee, and I live in Derbyshire. I lived in Malawi and South Africa when I was younger, and I am half English and half Irish. I am the eldest of two, my brothers name is Daryll and he is 22.

When I have time, I love making handmade cards. I have mountains of craft stuff, the last thing I created was a photoframe smothered in glitter glue for a friends daughter.

I adore my garden. As some have seen, its a blank canvas at the moment, but I keep buying plantpots and flowers and sacks of compost. My mum is a part time florist, and Ive certainly inherited her green fingers.

I am a self confessed Alton Towers nut, and if I had the cash, would go on a rollorcoaster tour of the USA.

I also love retro gaming, but above all, The Legend Of Zelda. This morning I took some of my Link little figurines and put them in 3D photo frames, now thats original art for you! I have nearly every game going, and the soundtracks to boot, theres some really amazing stuff, and I dare anyone to not like it ;)

My fave bands include No Doubt, Maximo Park and The Police. I wasnt born when The Police were first around, but that doesnt stop them being my fave band!

Think thats about it, be nice to get to know people :)

Ditto!

WOW, I have annual AP family pass, LOVE IT. I went to NYC for the sole reason of riding Kingda Ka. Park was closed when I arrived :( :( :( Still had a good week.

Zelda, my favourite ever franchise, I mean it. I have the John Williams theme on CD, as well as the Big Band Live CD that Nintendo did! Kojo Kondo is a god :D

We sound perfect for each other, but alas, I am married.

Gary.

MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN THOSE ARE AWSOME!!! :D

That was the BEST gamceube game, by a longshot. The graphics were like a cartoon! I got stuck for a week at the section where you needed to swing through the waterfall.

Man brings back memories.

Did you enjoy Twilight Princess? Loved it personally :D

Gary.

LOVED it! Currently working through it for the second time, but I took a detour to complete Wind Waker for the umpteenth time ;) I also have Ocarina of Time on the go, as well as Majoras Mask.

Oh, and Oracle of Ages, which Ive never played before so thought I would give it a go :D And glad you like the figurines :woot:

Shall we start our own Zelda Appreciation Thread Gary?

Change of thread title required

Now "Zelda appreciation society for sad people";):p

Im Darryn, I live in Lancashire... im 29 and anti-social. :)

Ive had many many hobbies, NitroRC truck racing, MiniMoto racing, Scale Model car building, PC building, Software creation (for the old Nokia Symbian platform)...

6months ago I finally got around to taking my driving test and now ive dropped all my other hobbies and spend all my time and money driving, I plan on getting into track and hillclimb racing, again as a hobby not as a serious racer.

I got into Photography through my love of motorsport, started filming and quickly moved onto photographing as I found film a boring format to work with, much harder to be creative and display the work well.

Since passing my driving test, ive joined about 6 differant clubs and taken part in about 15 meets, im trying to become less of a social retard and learn to chat and interact with people. :)

Darryn, I have made some of my closest friends through the wonders of the internet :) Well done for getting out there and trying it

Meeting new people, mostly via online communities, has always had a stigma attached to it, well those people that condemn it, have never tried it ;)

I met some wonderfully random people at The NEC at the Focus on Imaging Show, there aint no going back now :D:D

Hi. I'm DF

I live under the sink in the TP staff room.

When we started this, I miss read the MSN conversation and thought I'd agreed to being part of "talk pornography" so once commited to the cause I had to find a camera. I'm still looking for one with a built in talent function.

Since the birth of tp, I have met and become good friends with some fantastic people and I hope it continues like that :)

I'm also a self confessed gadget nut

I am currently coming to the end of my time at Exeter Uni, which is a real shame as I love it here. Studied Physics and absolutely loved it. I suppose it satifies my need to know stuff and how things work etc etc.

Other than photography, I enjoy building computers for my mates now and then as well as building my own when I need to :D I do a little gameing every now and then, though, I'm not as into that any where near as much as I used to be! I guess uni sorted that out for me :D

Rifle shooting is another thing I enjoy every now and then, however in my final year had to give it up due to lack of time. Shame, as I got fairly good in my first year.

Basically, I love gadgets and geeky stuff like that!

I also enjoy listen to music and watching films with mates, going out, doing random stuff, and chilling round my bros house (Who is infact Justin on here :D and is far, far older than I am.... :naughty::naughty:)

Home is a fairly boring place called Newbury which is where I shall be moving back to in about a month. It's not all bad however, as I then get to sponge of the back of mum again :D

That about it really! :)

I'm John and work for a multinational computer services provider in customer support. I've been playing the flute for about 22 years (just need to find time to practice a bit more), I practice Tai Chi on a regular basis.
I got into Astronomy in November last year and this lead me to the art of capturing images (or in my case taking snaps :D , there's a lot more to this art than I first thought). A bit of gaming from time to time (PC and Wii).

Hi John! I used to play the flute when I was younger too, I still have it in the garage! Need to find time to take it up again :)

I'm Colin and I'm an alcoholic.

b****r! Wrong forum.

:D

Who you calling random! :p I gave you onion rings and everything!.....ok, yeah that might have been a tad random.

Hey! I never said you were a bunch of freaks or anything did I? I believe myself to wonderfully random as well

I heart you guys :D

Hii,

I'm Cedric, retired bounty hunter and gumshoe. Photography has been with me since I was a kid and doesn't look like going anywhere soon. Hobbies have been legion over the years, but mainly I like music. I play keyboard reasonably well, liking to murder a little Mozart or Bach when I'm in the mood, but I'm getting rustier by the minute for lack of practice these days.

I become a state pensioner next month, not sure when that crept up on me. Biggest problem is just being born too soon - I'm a sucker for hi tech - can't get enough of it.

EDIT.

Need to get a more grown up car than whatever 'ondas latest quick offering is, but I don't see that happening any time soon either. :D

My name is Kate. I was born in Lincoln, grew up mostly in the country around Cambridgeshire and now reside in Southampton. I am the youngest of two, having a brother of 38 who is a head of music and drama at one of the more challenging schools in Colchester.

I first picked up a camera when I was about 6 or 7 years old. There were many jokes about how the animals at the wildlife park must have relocated just as I took the shot since many showed an empty expanse of foliage, lol.

I have many interests scattered about, but usually some of those become all consuming, this being an aspergers trait.

Main longterm ones are music (I am trained to sing), writing ( I write poetry and song lyrics, sometimes a short story), theatre, film, science fiction/fantasy books/series/films (currently reading the Sandman graphic novels), serial killers/forensics, Titanic, historical buildings, the Tudor period and nature (I love countryside and animals).

Favourite bands are Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Sting/The Police, A-ha, Evanescence, Art Garfunkel, Enya, Clannad and Capercaillie.

Favourite films include Bladerunner, AI (I am fascinated with the idea of artificial intelligence), Schindler's List, The Lion In Winter, Stigmata, All the Harry Potter films, LOT, Narnia...etc. I inherited my mother's great love of film and theatre.

When not on here, I spend most of my time alone here in Southampton, finding most people either uninteresting or simply intimidating. I walk a lot, do my photography, sit and read over coffee and sometimes meet with the couple of good friends I do have.

I have Aspergers, meaning I can be rather honest or blunt in what I say, which is ok if one likes openness etc. Other than that, well, only people who get to know me are those I come to trust to not judge me :)

My name is Gary.

I am 28. Live with 3 cats, a dog, a wife and a son every second weekend.

I love my family very much.

My wife, son, mum and sisters are the most important people in the world to me, they are all stars

I work in financial services, City Centre Edinburgh, on the I.T side of the coin.

I hate work as I have a lot of pressure on my plate, and I need to be organised.

I am no good at organising anything.

I am a very shy person unless you get to know me, then I am a nutter.

I have a massive and unstoppable amount of excess energy, I am loathe to use the term ADHD, but according to every Dr, Nurse and Shrink I have seen over the years, I have it REAAAAAAAAAAL bad :)

I can hardly ever sleep

Since getting hooked on my cameras, (my video games, DVD's and other hobbies) have all died a sudden death, except one, driving

I love to drive my lotus, FAST.

I love the outdoors, especcially now that I can capture some of the time spent outdoors with my camera

I frequent Talk Photography FAR TOO MUCH

I post on Talk Photography FAR TOO MUCH

erm....

I want to retire when I am 30

I really can't sleep. :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

I'm Marcel.

I'm fat.

I'm also off to bed. :D

Will post properly tomorrow!

Bob here......

Just become a gentleman (loosely termed) of leisure and intend to spend much more time with 'er in doors' (Penny) and a fluffy little cat (Dibble).
I've spent the last 30 years plodding around the world waiting for delayed flights and struggling to find hotel rooms at 1.30 in the morning.

I got into toggery in the early 70's mainly due to my passion for old aeroplanes....back in the days when they had shape and character and the 4 engined ones usually flew on three (unless there were problems and then it was just 2).

Brought up in Cheshire but dribbled southwards following matrimonial attachment to 'a bit of crumpet who talked posh'.

Asking the missus for ideas to pad this out, she suggested....
I can, on occasions, be blunt, uncouth, thoughtless, unromantic and scruffy. I leave the top off the toothpaste tube, the toilet seat up, dirty socks on the bedroom floor, the shower in a mess, the car seat too far back (immaterial if the tank's always empty) and leave dirty cups around the house.
(....I had no idea that I had so many attributes...I sound like a married bachelor).

This is the abridged version and the full annialation and humiliation can be obtained by sending a self addressed enveloped to my other half.

I'm Steve, the name "Jelster" is something I picked up at school, and was re-ignited by a work colleague about 8 years ago.

I currently work in sales for a wireless professional services company. I'm 46 and have been in sales since the age of 20. I enjoy the pressure and any comission goes into the "benefits" pot at home, of which my hobbies have an account. I've been the RF & IT services just about all of my working life.

Born & bred in Kent, I've lived in Derbyshire & Northampton in the past, but I'm now back in the South where I live with my wife, and occaisonally my son, who is at University studying IT Security. We also have a cat, she's the original "scaredy cat" who disapears whenever somebody else is in the house (my extended family have never seen her, and she runs from the camera too)

I have many hobbies & passtimes, which include 'togging, but also Motorsport - mainly bikes. I ride a Honda FireBlade, and drive a modified Focus ST so I like my toys fast (and red...) I also enjoy a spot of fishing when I get the time, and love entertaining people at my place.

That's about it. Can I go now ? ;)

Steve

I will confirm on Thursday when I meet Bob for a coffee:D.

I'm Rozzy, or Chris as my colleagues like to call me. I'm 21, 6'2" weigh 15st6lbs and dropping. I live in Cadishead, Manchester, and have a full set of gcse's and A levels. I have many interests, many fleeting, I have studied aviation technology at univerisity, but left this year after I discovered that theres not fun if you know how it all works :( . My main goal now is to get into The army as an officer, and hopefully fly helicopters. My main interests include computers, work, sleeping, and taking the occasional photograph.
I am both self centered and completely selfish, I'm as someone mentioned further up, arrogant, but I hate that quality in others. I have a constant will to achieve and be better than I was the day before. I have a girlfriend who is 18, and from a higher class background. I love her. As she will tell you, I am a complex individual, who doesnt credit himself with as much as he should, and also interesting when he thinks he's talking crap. I think too much, far too much. I'm opinionated, but never sure which side of the coin I believe in, but you can be damn sure that if I make a decision, I will stick to it to the bitter end.
Don't tell anyone, but I believe in God. I don't believe in Religion. I don't like religion, but it impresses me.
I live at home with my parents and my youngest sister, the other lives away. We have 2 border collies, and 2 cats, a gran who visits occasionally, and a garden full of wild birds, due to the number of feeders we have(that cats wear bells!).
Cant really be arsed typing much more. You know too much already :bonk:

My name is Mark
I'm 48 and live happily in sin with my other half of some 12 years.
Ex F1 driver (well once on a tow rope, did get asked by Ayrton to look after his girlfriend though)

I inherited 2 children, both left home now.

We live in Lincolnshire (for nearly 3 years now) and love it.
We have 2 dogs
Lucky 14 years and Snoop 10 month GSD called Snoop as he is into everything.
Also 2 cats Mungo and Affee (named after Mcafee)

We both work in I.T. and are self employed with 3 businesses

I like I.T. photography, music, reading, travelling and much more.

I also love to cook.

Paul - 29 years old and live in Horsham, Sussex

Still living with the folks as I like to pick myself up and take myself travelling every now and again...

Got a gorgeous dog called 'Ky' who I have had since a pup (he's nearly 3 now)

Got a girlfriend called Emma who I have been with for nearly 8 years, she shares all my passions, although she prefers her Ixus to the SLR's. Love her to bits and wouldn't change her for the world.

Live and breathe for both Photography and Snowboarding (if I can't snowboard, I wakeboard).

Joined TalkPhotography as I don't seem to know anyone who shares my passion in Photography.

Also like computers (got 4 + server in my room / 8 in the house!), Movies (900+ DVD's and I seem to be buying them all again on Blu-Ray :bang:), Games and chilling out with my crazy nutter friends.

That about sums me up, interesting thread to read...

Better throw my hat in the ring - this is the wrong forum for keys isn't it? :D

I am Gary and surprised at finding myself older than many people when I am still so young of heart - and mind as my wife Jacqui of 20 years would say.

We have three children; Greg, Kerry & Lucy and you will have seen them on these boards - they remain one of my favourite subjects.

I originally trained as an engineer in the RAF however I took over a family business along with my brothers and am doing OK with that although it takes up almost as much time as TPbloodyF! Started a few of my own and wanting to sell one to free up more time - I'm a bit of a business junky :bonk:.

Adventure sports and wild spaces have been my lifelong diversion and never could play team games. Can now watch footie but never supported a team. Originally said I would attempt every adventure sport that existed but a back injury in my late twenties has curbed that - although few would notice.

Believe that everything should be done to the best of one's abilities and also should be enjoyed. If you cannot then things need to change.

Happy living in the Highlands as it is an extraordinary playground and populated with some great people - even the white settlers!

Gadget man but not a games player. I heard my son tell some people he never had a games console and they could not believe this. He is pleased we never bought one as he now seems to share an appreciation for the outdoors which may keep me going into my old age.

Met a few of you on here and looking forward to meeting some more - if you are passing through Inverness do not hesitate to get in touch.

I'm John - 51, IT Manager and I live in Woodford Green, Essex.

I've been married to the lovely Suzanne for 27 years this August and we have two amazing children (remember I'm biased :D) :

April (20) a witty, clever and good looking lass currently studying architecture at Newcastle Uni and James (22) a laid back, talented musician - late of Blazin' Squad (MC Flava) and Friday Hill with a 11 or so top ten singles behind him.

I couldn't be more proud of those two :D

My passions are photography, music, films and people (and lately poetry!).

I've been taking photos for the last 30 year (Praktika - Minolta x500 - Kodak 4600 - Canon 20D - Canon 40D) and I love it!

Photographically I like architecture, abstracts, candids, flowers (of late ;)) and landscapes - I enjoy unusual views of the usual and I love HDR :D

My claims to fame are few... I once baby sat for Alvin Stardust and his partner, Lisa Goddard, my uncle was Lord Murray of Gravesend but my real claim to fame is that I was British Freestyle Frisbee Champion in 1979 - a fact which gets more laffs than gasps but hey it was fun :D And here's me in my hey day here and here (oh dear I may regret this :D!)

I have a head full of dreams and trivia so I'm good in a quiz !!!

I'm a Virgo and although I'm not a believer (in anything much) I try to be a perfectionist - like what Virgos are supposed to be.

Currently my work assignment has me 3 or 4 days in Tamworth each week where I rent a small cottage.

I'm a twin, I drive a Passat, I play guitar, I used to play in a band, I own 90+ Frisbees, I like astronomy, I speak some Spanish... I could go on and normally I do...

We have a cat called Boots (our last two were called Tamron and Kodak :D)

The most important thing to me in life (aside from family, friends and cat) is consideration for others - treat people well and they'll treat you well (it may be naive but it works for me :D)

Oh and I love this place and the people in it :D

Betty, similarities are interesting..

I'm Indian by origin but have never lived there, I was born in Kenya and then moved to Tanzania when I was nine. I came to the UK about 7 years ago because I was being very naughty at my high school which was american based by the way.

Became a good boy, did well at A-levels, got a degree from a top uni and am now working for a firm.

Getting married in 2 weeks, YIKKEES and have been dating her for 3 years, a bit scared and a bit excited,

I'm very energetic but at present work is taking it out of me as I stay away from home so diet is not the best,

TalkPhotography is my new most visited forum tsk tsk and am looking at getting a telephoto to supplement my kit lenses, is it worth it?

Oh and I sell video games on Ebay part time - Gold Powerseller wooohooo

I suppose I'd better do a proper post. :D

Unfortunately I'm 47 but still think I'm 20 years younger although the body is a bit slow to catch up at times. Married to Jan with two boys, Harry aged 12 and James who is 9, two Border Terriers, three horses and soon to get some chickens. I was born and raised in Inverness and having lived in a few places I'm now settled in a Hertfordshire village, we've lived here for ten years and for the first time I found a place I could call home.

Work history? It's been varied and very interesting at times. I did 14 years with the Met Police, from there worked on the close protection detail for the Brunei Royal family and then spent a few years working for various clients in the UK and around the world as security consultant - mainly close protection, surveillance/counter surveillance, offensive/defensive driver training etc etc (even managed to get caught up in a civil war in a sh*tpit country in North Africa).

I decided to give it up when Harry was born as I was often away for months at a time and I didn't want to miss him growing up. Went on to be Head of Security for that bastion of chavness, Burberry and from there I worked for Telewest for seven years first as corporate fraud investigator before moving into information security. I now work for Siemens as a Security Management Consultant and it pays the bills. :shake:

I'm a positive person by nature and dislike negativity and 'glass half empty' mentality. You only live once and I intend to make the most of it as you're a long time dead as my Grandad used to say.

Did a little bit of photography 25 years ago and got back into it a couple of years ago, I love digital and I can't imagine using film again but never say never!

No other hobbies really, I occasionally play golf (badly) and I also like to cook.

I've met quite a few of you on here and look forward to aquainting myself with many more of you.

That's enough from me. Next!

Ok,there's some interesting bio's here, prepare to be bored.

I'm 54 ( shock! horror!) I've just changed my avatar to show the real me!

Born in Scunthorpe into a family of steelworkers going back generations to the start of steelmaking in this town, still live here. Eldest of 6 children, my father died when I was 12.

I live with my partner of 4 years, he's an aircraft engineer working at Stansted at the moment, 4 days on 4 days off.

I don't have any children but have 3 nephews who I'm proud of.

I've worked for Ericssons as a teacher/supervisor of telecommunication equipment building.
Have 20 years experience of manufacture and design in the clothing and furnishing trade.
Gave up work a couple of years ago to spend more time on renovating our home and garden then took a part time job working a couple of nights a week at Asda which I love, great bunch of people.

I love my garden, got the bug from my Mum who's an expert.
I also love making stuff. I've done most crafts that you can think of but the one that I'm most proficient at is cake decoration, good enough for people to want to pay me, which is nice.:)

I like the techy stuff too, we have 4 computers and 1 laptop. I like fixing them and upgrading them. My man breaks 'em I fix 'em!

I got into photogaphy about 18 months ago and you know the rest, spent a lot of my time on TP ever since.

and James (22) a laid back, talented musician - late of Blazin' Squad (MC Flava)
