Andrew Cliffe,
Born in Yorkshire on my birthday and again three weeks after that. Moved to Norfolk without consultation when I was four and have been here ever since.

Met a girl in my class at school and have been with her ever since, eventually getting married and we celebrated our 7th anniversary last week.

Was given a Canon AE-1 as a birthday present in about 1986 or 1987, joined school photography club and was shooting for school magazine, and developing and processing black and white prints myself. Couldn't afford much in the way of film. AE-1 was stolen from me when my 1st car was broken into. Replaced with an EOS650, but setting up home meant I didn't have any spare cash to indulge.

Fast forward 10 or so years. Canon 300D was the current market leader and almost bought one until I heard the 350D was just around the corner. Bought one and its been downhill ever since.

Currently receive some income from my camera equipment which is good and I mostly shoot motorsport. Day job is I work in a classic car restoration company and we get lots of interesting cars in, as well as some race preparation. Also interested in amateur dramatics, but the technical side rather than prancing around making a fool of myself. I cover a number of local amdram societies productions as well.

There. That is me...

Bump............more please!

Wow... I'll give this a go, but I'm not too good at writing about myself!

I'm Daniel :)
I'm 19 years old, though most people seem to think I'm younger...

Uhh... I don't know!

I'm always happy. I can get amused by the simplest of things, so if I'm ever feeling down I just giggle at something that's not in any way funny! I think that life's fun, it's a whole lot more fun when everything makes you smile :) I'm ridiculously optimistic, always see the good side of something and try to believe that people are nice, even if they don't seem it. Everyone's happiness and well being is more important than my own, in my opinion.

I have two lip piercings, both on the right hand side of my lip, which are usually decorated with some variety of neon jewellery. I never wanted to get any piercings until about 3 days before my first one!

I had never had the tiniest inkling as to what I wanted to do with my life before I picked up a camera.

I went to a grammar school... Scary, eh? I was always the shy one at school, didn't go out and make friends because they scared me, then I got over it and now I can't really move in Rugby without someone saying hi or jumping on me... :p

I regularly get asked if I'm gay... Which I take as a compliment when they say it's because I dress so well :D

I think I'm beginning to suffer from insomnia, hence the time right now.

I play guitar, I prefer to play acoustic to electric but I wouldn't mind being in a rock band, just to say I had! I look like the type of person who would go to heavy gigs and headbang a lot, and while I do... I actually prefer wearing bright clothes and listening to hardcore dance music :) Nobody's ever heard of music artists that I like.

When I was little, the only thing on my 'Things to do before I die' list was to go sky diving, which I did when I was 15.

I don't really have anything interesting to say...

I also have a lovely girlfriend :D

I remember reading a thread a while back, it seems there are a few of us from S-in-A :D

I am on Facebook, clicky :)

Hello!

I'm Sarah and I live in the Cardiff area.
I'm 33 and an accountant by profession. No kids - unless you count the OH and the dog . . . and believe me they both need enough looking after!

My other main hobby is keeping tropical fish. I'm a mod over on a fishy forum and shhhhhh but I secretly want to learn to take great photos of my aquariums to show off over there ;)

I love my garden, although I wish I had more time to spend out there.
I also really enjoy painting (on canvas not the DIY kind) and I make handmade cards.
(I think I just read about cards in someone else's bio. It's a great hobby - we'll have to exchange some ideas)

Finally, I volunteer as a director of a charity providing respite care to carers. We employ carers to go in and give these people a break and a bit of time to themselves - whether it's just a few hours to go shopping or an overnight sitting service so that they can have a well-deserved night out.

In between all of that I'm trying to learn how to take a half decent photo and I'm hoping that all you great people on here are going to give me some help and support along the way. . . plus the occasional kick up the backside if my other stuff starts to get in the way and I let things slip.

Well, i'm Darren, I love Heroes, Lost and Deadliest Catch on TV. And spend some time on XBOX360 playing Call Of Duty 4

^^^Now thats scary. My blokes name is Darren, he loves Heroes and Lost, we have two cats, theres a Civic Type R over the road from us owned by a neighbour, and he loves his xBox as well :D

Oh . . . and that bit of this thread has really freaked me out LOL !

My bloke's a Darren too and he loves, Heroes, Lost and Deadliest Catch.
He also spends for too much time playing COD4

Errrrrmmmm you don't suppose they could all be the same person do you ? ;)

Love 'pooters taught myself how to use fix and pretty much anything to do with 'pooters from the age of 10

Just finished my exams. The summer is mine to take pictures and start getting my stuff noticed around TP :D

I just spent 30 mins writing out a humoros praisee of my life and then the computer dumped it.

You'll have to wonder, but mine is a most amazing life story including being born a *******, rejection at birth, the loss of a dream, never acheiving at school, raising thousands of £'s for charity, the death of a daughter, bankruptcy, having a successful business, throwing it away and then being given a second chance that seems to be working out.

Richard
aged 43
Married to Tracey
two sons, Peter 8, Steven 6
happy as a sandboy
I do this for a living: www.shedshop.co.uk

Hello everyone :)

I'm Sharon but everyone calls me Shazza. I'm 35 and live in Milton Keynes with my husband and our cat. I work as an Administrator (yawn).

Other than photography my hobbies include entering competitions, make up, shoes, reading, film, TV, music and socialising with friends.

I'm quite new to photopgraphy and am still on a massive learning curve. Am just working at improving my images at the moment and learning how to get the best from my camera.

My name is Keith and I am 45

I live in Scotland with my wife Becky and my daughter Amie who is 3 years old today! :)

I own my own house

I enjoy photography, cooking and all things tech

Hi both! :)

Bumpage time, we've had loads more new people since this started! :D

My Name is Jon, 30 years old and I live in Sussex, near Gatwick.

I have been playing around with photography for about a year and a half and the more I learn the more I realise how little I know! Mainly shoot cars, planes, buildings, wildlife and really want to get into urban photography.

Other hobbies :
*cough* Gaming PC's. I build them and still regularly play online fps games (I'm a kid :D)
Rugby, playing and watching.
Audio - I am a Moderator over at Talkaudio and up until recently was very heavily into the high end car audio scene as an installer and participant, I still dabble but the focus moved onto home audio a couple of years back.

Hi :)

hi my names al and im a neilcoholic..

no.. wait..

:D

my name is neil, ive just turned 28 and im from the south coast between bournemouth and southampton.

i currently work in the IT dept in the head office of a very well known high street retailer. ive worked in IT for the last 10 years and been into computers since i was about 10 when i got my sinclair spectrum with datacorder.. yum.

im in to motorsport, mountain bikes (albeit ive just sold my bike to fund a new car :( ), films/home cinema (albeit a lot of my stuff in storage due to lack of space), reading and obviously photography.

i got into photography properly when i purchased a fuji S5000 to replace my ancient sony cybershot. i soon realised it was far from ideal for motorsport and bought my first SLR, a canon 300D. then upgrading to a 20D in 2007. i shoot pretty much anything but favour sports, motorsports in particular.

im a bit of a marmite person i think, i can come across as very opinionated and grumpy (im sure some of you have already found this ) but in real life im just a big softy lol

erm yeah, so i think thats about it..

Ok, since I've read most others, I think it would be rude not to...

I'm Tony, 33, born in South Africa, lived there till I was 19 but decided the experience of being kidnapped, shot at and almost stabbed several times was not something i wanted to put my kids through so I moved to the UK via the Channel Islands. Now I'm realising SA isn't the only country with issues :D

I now live in Newcastle with my wife and 2 kids (Keelan - 4 and Kaila - 2). I work as an IP Network Specialist for BT as a main, but work with my brother on various photography gigs as a second (my brother is an ex-pro fashion tog who fell out of love with that aspect of photography)...

I've been building, fixing, configuring, programming PC's since back in the day and do a bit of everything to keep my hand in. Love gaming, but the wife doesn't, so I tend to moderate :)

My kids are my main passion, but photography comes in a close second...

Hey everyone.
My name is Dan, I'm 23 and live in Southampton with my Fiancée Natalie.
I've been working as freelance Av technician for the last 5 years.
I'm a gadgetaholic.
I got in to photography a few months back after coming back from holiday with some very disappointing pictures, so I set about learning what I could do to improve them.

I have enjoyed reading this thread as I love people and have enjoyed getting to know people on TP, which I have found really friendly and helpful.

I'm 58 and live in rural Essex. I have 2 grown up sons, one married with two darling kids aged 5 and 6,and the other getting married in 3 weeks time to a lovely young lady.

I was widowed at 38, my policeman husband of 18 years, just dropped dead in front of me a few hours after being hit by a cricket ball. After a while I picked myself up and went to uni where I studied psychology and worked full time in an NHS psychology dept at the same time.Eventually after about 8 years I qualified as a psychologist and worked for a few more years in the NHS with people with learning disabilities. I met another lovely man and we had 12 great years together but unfortunately he died of cancer in 2004.

I'm now retired early due to severe spine problems and other health issues and I cant walk much and get a lot of pain. I'm overweight which doesnt help. I love animals, wildlife, the countryside, driving about in my lovely Motability Volvo with my beautiful black labrador Abby.I am vegetarian.I have a great male friend who I spend lots of time with. We share a love of music, mostly classical and go to concerts, out on steam trains and on lovely holidays in the beautiful UK.I also have an ancient Birman cat.

I think I am a really positive cheerful person and am happy.I am a Christian and go to church. I love singing, which I do very badly!I am a keen gardener but cant do as much as I used to.

I got into photography more seriously just recently but have always enjoyed taking holiday and family snaps and used to use little Kodak cameras and Polaroids, then a Rollei, then a Canon AE1 with a Tamron zoom lens, (both of which I still have).

Ok I have said too much and you are probably all falling asleep.

I'm not surpised you are proud. I hope they both keep safe.

I'm Rob, I'm 40 (going on 14), I l live in Buckingham with my wife and 2 step children.
I'm a Storage Area Network engineer for Hitachi Data Systems.

As and when I have spare time or a free pass from SWMBO I split it between diving, off roading, power kiting, urb-ex, climbing, abseiling and photography. I also recently applied to join the TA. I'm also an avid amateur cold war historian and am helping restore an ROC post as well as trying to blag permission to photographically record RAF Upper Heyford before the developers work out how to demolish 52 aircraft hangers designed and built to withstand a nuclear blast at ground zero.

I've been told I am too nice for my good, too selfish to be a parent, excitable, overly enthusiastic, happy go lucky and that I drink far too much coffee.

Hi I am Dave, 37, Born in Ashford Middx lived there until I was 16 then moved to New Milton which is between Bournemouth and Southampton, will never move back to where I grew up:D
I have been married to my great wife for 13 years and have 3 kids Millie 11, Alice 7 and Thomas 9 months.
I work for a timber supply company and cover the whole Southwest which is useful for photography.
First got into photography when i was o lot younger and my eldest brother had a darkroom at home, he stopped and I did nothing for about 7 or 8 years then I got a YTS position at southampton university as a photographer and it all started again. I then couldnt find a job in photography so gave up again as I didn't like 35mm as at college we used mainly 5x4. Then my eldest daughter was born and the interest started again and here I still am, will not be giving up this time

Hi, I'm Gav.
I'm 42, a right porker, and I live in Gods own county of Yorkshire (Leeds to be exact)

After I completed an electrical apprenticeship I joined the Royal Navy and got to see most of the world through blurry drunken eyes (thank you taxpayers...your country is safe with me, honestly). Ive lived in the usual Navy places Portsmouth, Plymouth and just outside Edinborough...all long enough to realise I love living in Yorkshire.
Ive had too many jobs, in too many places throughout the globe and currently work as a controls engineer at a float glass plant at Eggborough.
I met my best friend and wife Nancy, an American through the internet (top tip--Try and get a receipt for all things bought on the interweb as returns are a real pain in the ass)
We have a son aged 16, who has just had the best day of his life (leaving school) and is just about to start college in Leeds, studying software development
And after ten years of 'well if it happens, great. If it doesnt.....oh well' we have just had a daughter who at the time of typing is 6 weeks old, and quickly becoming the alpha female of the household.
I wasnt really into photography until i got a bonus from work and decided to have a bit of it to treat myself, deciding on a DSLR as something to get me off my fat arse.
I love this forum as its friendly and helpfull, and some of the comments make me chuckle away all day. There are some very talented people here!

I'm Andy

I'm 24 and live in Preston for half the year and the Middle East for the rest of the year. When not at home doing photography i sail the high seas as an Engineer Officer in the Merchant Navy.

Lived in Preston until i was 17 then moved to Newcastle for 5 years to do my training, moved back to Preston in the summer of 2006.

I first began taking photographs whilst working for P&O cruises and wanting to impress the lovely spanish photographer lady:love: caught the photography bug big time and haven't looked back since.

Bought a 400D and Kit Lenses in the summer of 2007 and soon after managed to persuade one of the local commercial togs to train me up.

Last year i upgraded to the 1DMKIII (via 1DSMKII) and started shooting mainly football for PNE'S youth team and some 1st team stuff, also did some work for Blackburn Rovers.

Still got a long way to go but have learnt a heck of a lot from this forum and eventually want to leave the Merchant and go it solo as a photographer

Hi, I'm Matt 26. I live in Staffordshire, with my girlfriend and son from previous relationship.
