"ShareAPic" is a photo hosting service like any other. Well almost like any other anyway. Because "ShareAPic" also pays you if your photos attract many viewings!

Have a look: http://www.shareapic.net/

Doesn't look like they're too bothered about breaching copyright, I clicked on one of the featured photos and it was a Harry Potter movie poster with a note telling me I'd earnt the uploader some money

Hmmm... the T&Cs state they're under no obligation to monitor the content...

the site is rubbish:(

I wouldn't touch that site with a bargepole. Anything which allows (and charges) the public to print copies of an image with no control on distribution etc has got to be bad news.

Agreed, also is it me or is the site design very similar to the skype site. I wonder if its a co-inky-den-key or they are somewhat related, no strike that just checked its not related.

Not if the alternative is that your photos will never get out there and be appreciated by others (even if under a false copyright). They'd just sit in a dark cubby hole on your harddisk and languish until bloomin' eternity. Sure, they'd be all yours and nobody can touch 'm. Or see 'm. Or appreciate 'm. Would that make you happy?

It would make me a lot happier than the option that site offers. At the end of the day I take pictures for my pleasure, I don't have any ambitions to become known for my photography, especially if it happens to be under someone elses name.

There are so many other avenues (which do take copyright seriously) available to people who do want to raise their profile anyway that I don't see any obvious advantage to using that site. I could be wrong though and totally missing the point?

I agree with Dod on this one, surely if you don't mind giving your images away for that price then stock sites would be a better option? You'd also get to keep your copyright which, lets face it, is a very important aspect if you ever wish to make any profit from your images.

It's a difference in approach. "people who do want to raise their profile" indicates that, for you, this is about YOU.
To me, this is about those PHOTOS. The photos themselves. On their own merit. Not particularly tied to you, or me, or any one 'maker' in particular.

Anyway, that site obviously is not for (people like) you. That is clear. And that's fine.
As I said: it's a choice.

Hmmm... Money just for people viewing your pics certainly SOUNDS interesting BUT I just checked the site T&Cs and FAQs and still wasn't satisfied so just checked their Forum; there's a discussion going on about where members post links and which forums/sites DO NOT ban them! Obviously some forums DO ban the posting of links to this particular site...

Also, although the site 'prohibits' certain material (without actually checking!) I noticed that a lot of their forum contibutors had links incorporating terms such as 'bonkable', 'babes' and similar.

I don't think I wish to be associated...

Well this was on the front page.

" We pay $0.22 per 1000 pic views.. that's more than some major ad...."

WooHoo! :woot: NOT.

So I have to get 150,000 views to make even £15?... B*ll*x to that!

Oh and you get paid if your account is over £10. It seems they'll be making money off the interest on what they hope will be thousands of accounts with less than £10 in. Probably the only ones making any money. Looking further, that 10p per hit might only be 1p per hit based on THEIR calculation of the money to distribute based on THEIR advertising revenue! AND! AND! They say it's pro-rata per country based on the amount of traffic... So expect a Brit to get less than an American and a Kenyan to get even less.

Double b*ll*x to that!

There are better ways by miles to raise your profile methinks...
