Hi there,

I've searched the forum and there have been a few threads about this in the past, but nothing that really stands out as answering my question.

I'm looking at getting a relatively cheap GPS tracking device (maybe an Amod AGL3080) for a trip to Cornwall next week. I really like the idea of knowing exactly where I was when I took a particular photo.

Time, however, is getting very short. I like the idea of following RobertP's route, but unfortunately I've left it far too late for getting hold of that kind of device.

Can anyone else recommend a good quality device that I could get hold of pretty quickly, please?

Thanks in advance,
Marc.

Do you have a sat-nav for your car?

If so you could save your current location whenever you take a shot.

Job done.

Obviously you wouldn't have it embedded in your exif , but can't you edit that in later.

TwentyTen - thanks for the suggestion. I have a TomTom 720, but it doesn't do logging, I'm afraid. I've tried in the past to do what you suggest, but I always forget the note the location. Also, I still have to go and manually tag all the shots afterwards. I'm ideally looking for a more automated solution, but will consider this if I get stuck.

Thanks
Marc.

Thanks TheBigYin, I'll have a look at those links.

Only problem I'm having is remembering to turn the thing on :)

With a rechargeable one you'd have to remember to recharge it too. I've just taken a soldering iron to my Gosget device and made a connection for larger batteries in a separate battery holder. Idea being to turn in on and forget about it for 4 or 5 days. The memory for track data is huge so no worries of filling it up. Battery pack makes it heavier but not enough to worry me.

Good luck with finding something in time.
