Genuinely free prog for opening zip files

Is there one as I seem to get to sites (Googling) that say they are free but all they do is download it free and there starts the catch. Pay, or pay after a free trial.

Otherwise, Winrar. Prompts every time you open the fee one but doesn't expire.

Windows vista onwards opens zip files built in but not password protected files.

However, thanks to certain mail servers spotting .exe files inside a zip it does have its uses.

Sorry It's taken me so long to get back to my thread and say thank you all so much for your advice. I've now realised my new laptop (Windows 8) has it's own built in software called 'Unpacker'. Not great but worked for the one zip file I had downloaded. If I get more zip files which is very rare I will investigate more

Don't believe that works on .rar files but 7-zip does, should you come across any.

To cover all bases I have now downloaded 7 - zip

The one I use is called The extractor its freeware very good and simple to use
