Generic battery LP-E17 for Canon 77D recommendation wanted

I have just ordered a 77D. I wanted to get a generic battery as a backup. I had a quick search but couldn’t find anything other than some unknown Chinese brands. (I do realise that most generics are made there!). I don’t use E-Bay.

I have found DSTE and Top Max to work well. You will get a non-OEM warning when you load them. Acknowledge and away you go. You may lose the battery level marker but I tend to swap them out st around 200-230 shots.

Using these batteries on 750D/M5 and M6. Seems to be the go to battery for many models.

OEM are around £45-60 mark - ridiculous. The so called OEM from HK via EBay are not OEM. Paid £25 for one which overheated and split during first charge! Paypal refunded.

Thanks for the reply. Do the DSTE and Top Max charge in the Canon charger or did you have to buy a generic charger?

No they do not but the pack includes a decent charger with an in car chager lead. You can slo get a USB charger that will work with a USB charger brick.

Canon are a pain but the OEM battery units, like their lens hoods and cases are cash cows. I have never had a problem with non-OEM batteries but I have had issues with OEM LP-E12 batteries that failed in an EOS M body that Canon replaced both batteries and body (the second battery damaged the camera.
