general printing res\size question

I am after some tips on using online printers like photobox.
What is the preferred way of taking a photo from pc to print.
I see photobox recommends 1200x800 pixels for a 6x4 print.

So using ps7 I assume i could........
1 Crop out anything unwanted
2 Re-size to 1200
3 PP & Sharpen
4 Final 1200 x 800 crop & save

I would not resize unless you have cropped it to an awkward shape - I think the 1200 x 800 is probably the minimum size they recommend, so if it is bigger it does not matter. I upload at the largest size possible and only save to a .jpg from tiff at the final save.

I would prefer to send smaller files, would I see a definite improvement if I send the file at original size? I always find that screen-sized photos look sharper than screen-fit ones. Also USM seems to have more impact on re-sized photos?

I too was curious about this, there system gets really upset if you crop and resize you image to you desired output size before you send it which in reality should be no different to them resizing it when they print?
