Geminids meteor shower 13/14th December

S*d it!! iv got 2 cameras but no remote release for either of em!! lol.. im off to hand over my 400D to a buyer and thats got everything i need!! lol.. wish i was keeping it now!! :shake: lol...

Sorry mate!!!! I love it and I'm so glad you didn't keep it

Not got a tripod but will be looking up and south tonight - can't work the camera out of auto mode at the mo so I'm ploughing through the manual as I type :D

Look more to the west I think m8, try and find Mars.

^^^ Not here :( about 90% cloud cover at the mo. Gona make a final decision at 7:30 weather to go or not. If not, hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I went out last night for a quick recce. I found a darkish sky site a mile up a rutted Byway up and I parked up for a few hours. Saw a few meteors but none recorded on the CCD. Tonight (Thursday) does not look quite as clear...

I don't believe it... the sky was lovely & clear until about 30 mins ago. Now I can't even see a single star :bang:

Where the hell are they, ive seen some in the east some in the north and some in the west ..... i think its safe to say that they are in the sky !

i've been having a look every now and then, if i'm correct, then geminids should be just above orion? I haven't seen much in the way of meteors though, i think i may have seen one, that was in a total space of about 10 minutes split into 3 parts (been at work and had a quick nosy every hour or so).

Your more than welcome to it, i hope it brings you as much enjoyment as it has for me.. im sure you will be verturing off the 'Green square mode' soon enough..

I hope you enjoyed your TEA!! :bang: lol..

I just caame back from Dartmoor, the weather wasn't too bad but there were still clouds around. Annoyingly it off the Stone circle I was going silhouette against the sky turned out to be in a dip, which meant there was no way of seeing it in the exposures.:bang:

I saw about a dozen meteors while I was there (about two hours after it got properly dark), nothing spectacular. And to top it off I just got back to the Plymouth industrial estate when I saw the best meteor of the night. :bonk: It ws going literally straight down, and I wouldn't be suprised if the news reported it having landed in Plymouth!

Weve got heavy low level cloud here now!! not a chance to see anything!!

Only saw one driving along the M3 about 8pm but it was a corker

Thx for that pxl8!! iv been looking forward to this all week and i havnt got to see ONE!!!
b****r..

wow that was great i stood out my back garden for 30mins anyway i got 1 picture out of it lol :) didn't have a clue what settings to use but really enjoyed it none the less. Heres my photo :)

Unfortunately some street lights polluted the image.

Do you have a car? If so there is no excuse!

Just to make you feel bad and give you a bit of impetus, I had to cycle 25 miles to get that shot, then cycle 25 miles back in the dark to get home. I left at 11:30 am and arrived back home at around 11 pm!

Oh and by 8pm the frost was already coming, hard! ;)

Good photo worth the effort! Definately less light pollution on Dartmoor than I had to deal with. Check out how much I had to adjust the hue map to make the orange sky glow in 'rural' Warwickshire apear more natural. Bearing in mind I was at least 5 miles from the nearest town!

The solid cloud cover kinda turned me off a bit, that and the no sleep in 48hours :p

So after all of this we have no shots of a meteor !

... and the worse thing is that it was only cloudy here for those two days :annoyed:

... I didnt have my camera, if i had, i would of had some cracking shots. I've even been out tonight and nothing ! so :(

Pity the weather was so poor... a friend and I drove all over the place looking for a gap in the cloud cover, but found nowt, so retired to a pub instead. At least it will be back again next year :)

id imagine so, it says the northern hemisphere. so it depends on the weather moreso than the place of the country your at. i hope weatherwise these are more successful than the geminids..
