Hi all

I have a few gels that fit across my speed lights.

I have recently bought an Ad400 and a few Lencarta softboxes the ones with the red stripe on the outside. They open like an umbrella.

Last night I decided I wanted to warm the light up with a gel to match the Christmas lights I had in the background.

I was a bit stumped on how this could be done with the umbrella type boxes ?

I did have a large piece of CTO gel that I stuck to the front of the box just covered the middle section. Which did work for this subject but there must be a way that I am missing

Any help would be much appreciated.

Just put the gel deep inside the softbox. On your model, it's easiest to make a small hole in the gel and to slide it right up to the deflector

It's a bit rough and ready, but works really well . . .

Cheers Garry.

I'll pick up a few larger squares.

What he said... you gel the light, the light colors the diffusion.
Thanks Stephen

Thanks for the links Richard.

The Barn door kit looks handy.
I am not sure that the item could be used inside the Lencarta softboxes I have though.

I have this problem and toy'd with the idea of trying to place them on the internal diffuser but knew that light could escape around the sides so it wouldn't work.

So you just cut a whole in the middle of the gel and run it down the umbrella 'spike' ??

These are the gels I bought
