Hey guys,

I have heard mention on this forum about the free sample packs of gels you get from Lee Filters etc.

Does anyone have a link to the page? I went to the website but couldn't find them listed anywhere.

Cheers

Right at the very bottom of this page , you have to fill in the contact form and ask for them in writing.

The Lee swatch pack is about 6mm longer than the Rosoc pack and may contain a few more gels. There will be more than enough in either pack for a good play. :)

I made my own cardboard holder, but as soon I can find somebody with a heat strip I'll be making one of these

Just buy the ones from flashgels.co.uk they're cheap enough and you'll get them quicker.

Monday, I requested my Lee Filters and Rosco swatch packs. Tuesday got them in the post. We were taking photos on Wednesday and on Thursday and Friday and Saturday. Chilled on Sunday.

Oh, DIY Lee Filters adapter - http://lightingmods.blogspot.com/2007/07/diy-lee-filters-flash-adapter_08.html

Works a treat for both Rosco and Lee Filters. Rosco sent through about a bazillion packs. I got three or four different filter packs from them.

Having just looked at the flashgel site, I could be tempted to order one of their 5cm velco packs though, that would be perfect and for 11 quid? Nothing wrong with that.

I'm sure I spotted a while ago a 'Sto-fen' style attachment for a hotshoe flash that allowed the Sample Pack Gels to be attached (inserted) to the flash (and without it welding itself to the front!)

Anyone how what I might have seen? I'm sure they were not that expensive, and probably slightly more robust than the cardboard one!

Thanks

I think you have hit upon the problem with using elastic band or gaffer tape to fit the gel to the front of your flash. I have seen the odd thread here and there asking how to remove the melted gel from the front of a flash.

I've not yet seen a sto-fen type holder, and have only seen DIY solutions ranging from cardboard and Styrofoam cups with a slotting to what I consider the best so far a bent piece of plexiglass.

Now back to the OP the very bottom of this Rocco page for a free swatchbook

Just sent an email off to Lee for their swatch pack so will see how long it takes to arrive.
Are the big enough to go on the front of a Metz 45-CL4?

I could probably adapt the sto-fen bracket to keep them off the flash face.

Got my Lee sample pack today, a good selection in there. One quick question, which one of the gels do I use to balance my flash with fluorescent light.

I'm guessing its page 181, which is 278 Eighth plus green. The description says it 'provides a green cast when used on a daylight and tungsten for balancing with fluorescent.'

As flash is daylight balanced it sounds like this will make the flash come out green like fluorescent. So if I'm shooting in RAW will I set AWB?

Cheers

the £1 [for delivery one]
