Hi there you lovely lovely people

In the next week or so we'll be posting up the details of the 2010 trips to the Wildlife Heritage Foundation.

Over the last couple of years the forum has enjoyed a fantastic series of visits where our members have been up close and sometimes personal with the Big cats. We've had some truly jaw dropping  images presented on the forum as a result too.

This year due to our relationship with WHF and Mr Hypnotic's "on the ground" organisational skills we have a even better spread of days on offer and the price is also cheaper than any other organised day to boot.

Confirmed dates are

May 29th - Saturday
June 12th - Saturday
June 13th - Sunday
July 10th - Saturday
July 11th - Sunday
July 31st -Saturday
August 7th - Saturday
September 12th - Sunday

Numbers per day are going to be strictly controlled this year as we have additional dates.

There will also be a competition for the best image posted, after each visit images can be submitted and will be judged by someone very special ahead of the FINAL visit, so if you want the prize and the adulation of the entire internet I would advise you to book up one of the earlier dates ;)

I will announce more details of the competition aspect closer to the first date, :)

Keep an eye out over next couple of weeks for the "booking" thread.

What's going to be the ball park cost for a trip?

Hi Kev

We're working on getting the trip out to the members at sub £90 including a cold lunch, last years trips were £85 each and I know there has been a slight increase by WHF for 2010.

Full details of the finalised cost and comp will be announced soon.

We have yet to finalise a price but one thing you can be sure of .... It will be cheaper than anywhere else.

Edit ... Need to check who is online before I post ... :bang:

Kev,

No need for the Icon m8, you're work on the upcoming and previous events has been invaluable.

Thanks for your big effort again here hypnotic & df - think that there will be a lot of tents pitched in this queue.

Really looking forward to trying to get involved this year. After seeing all the images I was gutted that I couldn't make it.

 Can't wait plus I get to go on an adopters day too as husband adopted Anuy for me for this year :D:D:D:D

Very Interested, never been before, but seen the picture thread, pitching my tent in the queue :D

Another one in the queue :)

But TP was not actually the cheapest trip there last year.

A flickr group had a day there on the 18th July for £73. But I chose to go with you guys (and gals) a week later.

Minigub has expressed a large amount of interest in going again.....

but we'll be bringing a change of clothes this time

Current cheapest price I can find on the WHF website is £110 per person for the day ...

They have also started one day photography courses for £150

This may be worth looking into as well if there are enough people interested.

Seen the results of last years trips. Would be really up for attending one of the meets this year!

Im up for another maraton trip, im sure her indoors will be coming aswell

I'm defo up for another visit, went for the first time this winter and it's a great place for some stunning shots

I try to go there as a volunteer since it's a bit expensive to go on a photo day (not to mention I have to drive all the way from Somerset), but I'll give it a go with you guys if I can

We do understand that this is an expensive day out for a lot of people (me included). Many of the people we have taken to the site have later decided to help further by adopting a cat or taking out a membership etc.

Keeping and looking after these big cats is not cheap. There is very little income from photography days etc during the winter months so most of the yearly total is made during the summer period.

Mark and his team are helping to preserve some of the most endangered big cats on the planet. Without his and others help, our future generations may only get to see some of these animals in books and videos.

The centre not only helps with breeding programmes but also looks after cats that have been retired from circuses and zoos etc.

I have no been to WHF but I went to Santago some years ago, and whilst it may seem a little price it is certainlly worth every penny.
They do a fantastic job and really where else can you get the privalige of getting so close to such beautiful cats.

I definitely understand that and I wasn't complaining at all. As a big fan of big cats, I think WHF is the best place to go. That's why I try to go and help as a volunteer at least. Hope to adopt one of the cats this summer.

I definitely want to go, I joined TP too late last year to go to any of taht years visits.

I'd really be interested in going this year please!! It was a 40th Birthday Gift to go here, that got me started in photography and I'd love another chance to photograph the cats. Let me know what you need from me!

awaiting more details. had to pull out and sell my place on last year after booking and paying due to serious ill health, all mended now and rareing to attend.
i was also one of the lucky ones to shoot at santago before it closed down and very much look forward to shooting the cats at WHF

And for the first time ever the King of Groove is coming! Why is everyone suddenly clearing away their tents!

Is it possible to bring non-camera wielding partners along as well? My wife loves the snow leopards and June 13th is close enough to our anniversary that it makes my life a whole lot easier:D

I too will be making the long and tiring journey...

Yes, non shooting family members will be accommodated on the TP trips, however they will be subject to the same rules and costs as shooting attendees.

:)
