Hello TP Community, i'm Ryan, I'm 17 and from Australia.
I joined this U.K forum simply as it's always good to have another active pool of talent/knowledge/help to learn from. I've been taking photos since Christmas '08 when I got my D60, and have been loving it since. I don't really have a preferred 'genre' of photography but I do alot of sports photography as one of my best mates is a Professional Quad Motocross racer, and always wants new photos. As a result of extensive time spent at tracks I need to have my sensor cleaned at the moment. My other main passion is Automotive detailing, and over the warmer months I do alot of fishing.
Here are a couple of my favourite images I have taken thus far. (in no particular order)

Welcome m8

You have joined a good forum, members are very helpful and willing to give you a helping hand with any questions you may have.

Thanks JollyJack, I had a quick lurk around the forum earlier today and decided I should certainly join, appears to be a very friendly and helpful community :)

Welcome, I've only been on here a few days and are now addicted !

hi ryan welcome

glad to hear from you

Hi Ryan,

Hi Ryan, there are few of us Aussies on here! Great shots!

Welcome make yourself comfy!

Graham, from a fellow Melbournian and pre Brit...It's bloomin hot! :)

Adelaide is lovely but small...depends on what you want! Good Luck with the move, Aus is great, but no eutopia!

Melbourne is a great city, I live in the south eastern suburbs, weather can be erratic, for example in the past week we have had temperatures of 43, 38, then 18, and today is about 20-23. thats Celsius. but other than that it's great :) overall Australia is a great country, and there is a stack of photo opportunities :p Adelaide is known as 'The city of churches.' obviously there are alot of old churches around :p but it is also a very quiet / boring place in some ways. And you don't want to drink un-filtered tap water in Adelaide
If you like the beach and the heat you cant go past Perth or Brisbane. Or if you want the beach but not the year round heat and humidity, a great place to consider is Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. We have a holiday house on the peninsula, suburbs like Rosebud offer a great mix of a quiet bayside lifestyle while still having everything you need within walking distance, or for the more upper class individual places like Sorrento (just down the road from Rosebud) offer a good option :P
Another plus for the peninsula is the abundance of beautiful beaches, jetty's, marina's, as well as great Surf beaches (back beaches) with lovely ocean pools/rock pools.
/end rant. I feel like an Australian tourism salesman :p
I say it would be a very positive move ;)

Cheers for the welcome mate :)

I'm from the South Eastern Suburbs. Rowville to be precise/
yourself?

I'm a westie... from 'tother side of the westgate, Point Cook! Are you in a photgraphy club or anything? Do you use the Ausphotography site ever?

You have some great shots, do you get into the city much?

Roo

ahh sweet, I'm not in any photography clubs, mainly because I haven't stumbled across any and also as I'm still getting my essential bits of gear together, and I enjoy doing it on my own I guess :P very very rarely do I end up in the city, not a huge fan of it :P I'm a member of Ausphotography, screen name was 'newbiesnapper' or something but i think i'll re-register with a similar name to this. I'm a lurker there mainly. another good one is the Photography section on Whirlpool Forums, some very very talented, knowledgable and helpful people on there.

Interesting...I shall have a look see....do you do any other forms of motorsport, more into cars me...haven't gotten out and about as much as I should have though...

Me too on the clubs...thinking about heading over to Williamstown sometime...dunno though!

Looks to me like you have some nice Kit....and you take great shots...so what more do you need!

Roo

I am looking to get into some Drift events with a mate to take some shots there, as well as possible hillclimb events, I do love cars so it would be good fun. and I want to learn panning. But I also really want to get into some decent landscape shots as well.
haha yer I do like the idea of sticking with what I have, the 70-300mm AF-S is great for motorsport, but my quad racing mate is starting a clothing company so I will be doing some model photography too, therefore I am looking to get some lighting gear and a tripod in the coming weeks. And I am going to purchase the 35mm f/1.8 in the coming weeks also.

cheers,
Ryan

Just got the Nifty Fifty 1.4 and it is an amazing piece of Kit...well worth the money! Great for everything....

I have the 70-300mm too, but I like my 18-200VR more....Panning I can do...just wnat a nice 300 or 400 lens to go with it! :)

haha a 300 or 400 would be divine.
the 50mm f/1.4 is the more expensive af-s one yer? if the 35mm wasn't so cheap and af-s i'd go the 50mm 1.4 anyday :P

That part of South Australia I do love, just not convinced I could live in the city, but then I'm almost 18 so I suppose I may find it more boring than others :p

Cheers,
Ryan
