I just had a realisation. Besides some film I haven't bought any photographic equipment for well over a year.

Damn, so GAS is cureable. Just my luck though as I cant repeat it. I have no idea what I've done.

Maybe I've found the format and lenses that I like and it is working really well for me.

I feel a bit dirty and are thinking I should buy something. But still cant be bothered as I've got the lenses I want and the bodies that work for me.

Hmm interesting.

It's not cured, just in remission! Sooner or later you'll spot something and it'll start nagging at your wallet...

Damn a bit like stop smoking then?

I think I am cured. I know what I want and I have it. I also know what I no longer want and I had it.

I must be growing up. Heck I don't even use my fixed aperture lenses wide open all the time. Surely that is a sign of maturity :p

A bit like the first 10 years or so of stopping smoking, yes!

GAS doesn't only apply to photographic kit - I'm sure there's something you hanker after; nobody's got everything they want!

I have got about £150 worth of Amazon vouchers and they have sat on my desk for the last week or so - how does that work..?
I have also just found out that I have almost £100 of Nectar points - I feel rich but cannot think of what to spend it all on !

I've also got a big accumulation of nectar and tesco club card points yet don't know what to spend them on either!

The remission statement sounds about right as you soon get into do I want this or need this scenario to justify the GAS once it comes back.

Ok I want a donkervoort d8 but that isn't gas. I just cant afford it and when I could I wouldn't want to spend the money in one.

Seriously, I'm GAS'd out. Heck I didn't even buy an apple watch. Even my wife and children were surprised and concerned.

I'm happy, I've just thought of a cure for my gas cure. Nothing photographic, but with thanks of a game suggested by @Byker28i so whilst a donkervoort is out of my budget. A TVR might not be. That could be fun and a good money pit :)

Haven't bought any new gear for over a year now, have everything I want that's available at the moment.
May have to replace my D300 at some point, it's been well used and abused but still works, mainly says in the case now though :(

Not so keen on whiskey, but a bottle of 12 star Metaxa might be an idea....

12 star? 7 is too sweet for my taste (and I have a sweet tooth!), 5 is the nicest of them IMO. Then again, my favourite Greek brandy is Cretan Tsikoudia (basically the same stuff as French Marc and Italian Grappa.)

Surely a bottle of cheapo white rum would be better in a Mojito? (OK, not a whole bottle in just one drink!!!)

What, like Bacardi? No thanks. 3yo or don't bother. :)

3 yo?! I dont even look at a spirit unless its a minimum of 10.
Anything older will give a different flavour that doesn't work quite so well in a mojito. Besides, using an antique aged rum would be a bit of a waste.

I did a tour of the Havana Club distillery when I was in Cuba and the tour guide described using the 7yo in a rum and coke as a capital offense. I think he was joking...
