Not sure if it's been suggested before, but how about a dedicated gaming sub-forum in OOF? There's a fair few threads get started about gaming, and the always popular PS3 Vs. XBox 360 battle. Is it something that could be looked into?

I reckon we should just make an Xbox 360 forum, considering PS3 is dump ;)

But seriously, I vote no. I suppose it makes sense, but then a lot of rants and complaining topics are started, so should we have a rants subforum? where do you draw the line? get my point?

:agree: Surely that many can't come up? If there are more than 365/52s then perhaps :p

*Goes off to look in OoF*

Fixed that for you mate..:D:p

no.:D

@ Matty. PS3 fan boy :p

(waits for come back of XBOX 360 fan boy)

Not a big enough demand IMO. Only since I started my 'I am getting a XBOX 360 thread' has there been any gaming threads.

Well not that I have noticed....

Was just a thought, on a motoring forum I'm on there's a gaming section in the 'Leisure Lounge' section (their version of OOF) and it works really well.

or just how much fun it is to watch you guys pay to play online :p

PS3 Is the only way, who needs controllers that change every year when you can have a classic that is ergonomically perfect :D

no it isnt, its going to get moved to OOF

ps3 isnt lame...its a high quality piece of engineering

Matt, how come your post count is down to 153?!

Made you look :)

having only played on a PS3 on crap TV that so small it was unreal I cant really compare. At the end of the day it is only a games console and somthing to relax on (well for me anyway)

Seeing as this is in OOF now, I'll add my 2p, I'm not looking for a lengthy argument, it's late and I've seen too much teen angst on here today :D

I vote PC for the win. PC is all I've ever really bothered with, I have a Wii but that only gets used when I have mates round, and/or when having 'a few' :D

PS3s are perfect if you don't like interacting with real people or if you have a real love of having your mates round for a games night and then taking it in turns because hardly any of the games can handle more than one player.

I have to agree with that one. I've found myself using my PC a lot for gaming, particularly FPS types where using the keyboard and mouse feels more instinctive. I've had an Xbox 360 for the best part of a year but it hardly ever get touched as I just can't seem to get on with the control pad.
Besides, I'm sure that my PC has more processing power than the Xbox 360. Well, how else can I explain Call of Duty 4 playing much more fluidly with all settings to the max when the Xbox 360's version suffered terrible slowdowns whenever the action got busy? And PC games works out cheaper than both PS3 and Xbox 360's.

I Used to be an avid gamer on the pc, spent £1000 a year nearly keeping it upto date with the latest tech etc...
I have since let that die - guess it came with resposabilities besides i found someone i rather spend time with than on my pc.
These days i occasionally use the 360 and the missus is after a Wii now so i think i will stick to console format from now on. I agree though you cant beat a pc for FPS games.

Big thumbs up for the Wii.

Had one now for 6 months and I'm using it several times a week. There's nothing better than getting a few mates around who've also got Wii's and playing Mario Kart on the 4-player setup on a 40" LCD. Also playing Mario & Sonic at the Olympics and trying to do the triple jump and trampolining.

Brilliant :D

House of the dead 2&3 on a 40" with the lights off, volume up and half a slab of stella is a perfect lads night it!

I agree totally with Ian, mouse-look is like second nature and having seen half-life & HL2 on various generations of playstations PC gaming is still what it's all about for me. I built my PC for gaming with SLI graphics, silly amounts of RAM and enough processor power to sink a ship and it beats the pants off my bro's 360.

Fixed that for you mate..:D

Nicely done Matty, when will they leard PS3 FTW!

 open your eyes boy! there have been loads of threads... most of them about the high quality, class leading, BluRay playing PS3 of course

Gamings for geeks !!

:bat:

saying that i have only had my PS3 for 3 months and havent turned it on for the last 6 weeks... *goes to charge controller*

Avid PC gamer here - MMO, FPS & stategy.
Consoles just don't cut it for game immersion in the same way :-)

Just treated myself to an XBOX 360 with GOW, GOW2 & Halo3 and I'm addicted:lol: Just working my way through GOW...on a panny 50 it's got to be seen to be believed.

PS3 - good machine but Sony are too bothered about creating new media formats than getting their in-house games like Gran Turismo out on time. Also, just because something's on a Blu-Ray disc doesn't make it good...

PC - great if you like Command & Conquer and don't actually know what good computer games are. Convince yourself that being in the "I'm a PC" gang and a bit of copycat marketing will make you seem cool when you were actually duped by the salesman into believing the bright green tower with fins on the side is good because it was labelled 'gaming PC'...

Wii - fantastic piece of gaming culture that brings arcade-style fun into the home. I just wish putting on Wii Sports golf wasn't soo bloody hard!! :)

Xbox 360 - excellent console, great selection of games and the paid-for online community is miles better than Sony's lame free set-up for the PS3. Red ring of death is a bit of a bummer though and the fact I'm supporting Bill Gates kind of grates with me... but then again, he owns everything anyway so what the hell... :)

I'd like to see you justify this statement...

Which by the way is sweeping, wildly inaccurate and borderline offensive.

RichardtheSane, okay, I suppose the bit about C&C is wrong - you all play World Of Warcraft don't you?...;)

Ouch...

I love my PS3 and the only thing i would have is mario olympics on the Wii but apart from that im really happy with sony. Apart from the Bulk of it its an amazing machine and replaces the need for a dvd player internet all that.

The fact the im ranked in the top 1000 in the world on COD4 has nothing to do with spending too much time on it. Im just amazing :p. And i had a good excuse as my broken leg wouldnt let me do much else :D

My 2p...

We have the Wii, PS3 and XBox 360 Elite (Having 2 kids is a nightmare!) The PS3 is mine and i use it as a DVD-Blu Ray player as well as a games console.

I think the quality of the PS3 games are better (I think they are amazing!) than the Xbox but there are loads more games for the xbox. PS3 is seriously lacking in game choice.

The Wii is a totally different gaming experience and although i never play it i think it's an amazing very clever bit of kit.

My son bought Little Big Planet just after xmas.....what a brilliant game!!! Anyone else got it?

Ah that fine marketing success that has about the same level of immersion you get in console games.

(I don't play it btw, boring!)

i have a ps3 a wii and a ps2 i play the ps2 and 3 more, but i do like to dance on the wii sometimes, even though im sure everyone thinks im mad as they walk past the conservitory

I agree with you soooo much on this. I have virtually every game that has come out on PS3. And i now find myself not caring about trading in two for a new game just in the hope its going to be good... Im so annoyed at the game selection.

They make amazing games platfrom games, but you can finish them in a couple of day and theres nothing else to do with them. Mirrors edge was so good that i couldnt stop playing but then i finished it in a week and that p'd me off...

I think that the PS3 is a bit like an Apple Mac in that the Apple software selection is very limited. There will be 1 or 2 pieces of software to do a job but 20+ for a PC. The Mac software is limited in choice but very good at it's job.

PS3 has limited selection but what they have is pretty superb. XBox is good and there is a much wider selection for each genre.

If anyone knows how to cheat (and still be able to save the game) in Medal of honour (PS3 version) please can they tell me as i'm stuck, well there are 3 sections and it's far too big a level for my poor capabilities. :gag:

Its been a long while since i played games and at 43 i find it very difficult to keep up with the game play, it's all so fast! I watch my nephew in awe as he is so good. I must try harder!!

Exactly right, but it is annoying, and i just got a call from my brother that one of our two controllers is broken. Playing the olympics obviously took its toll on it

Oh and i cant help you with Medal of Honour, just kill everyone grenades and lots of shooting then as its always the same put watever charges you need to and blow everything up :p
