For reasons which I won't go into I have ended up with a spare computer running win 7 with a fair bit of grunt in addition to which I have fallen heir to a thrustmaster joystick with throttle control .
I have a copy of flight sim about which I am totally unenthusiastic as I can't really be a**sed to learn to fly a plane.
I don't really want to sell the PC as up until recently it was misbehaving and I would not want anyone to end up with a dodgy machine,( although it is now behaving fine), so I will keep it to play games.
Can anyone suggest an offline game , preferably not of the " shoot em up " type which requires a joystick to play

Does it have to be totally offline?

Elite Dangerous is fun, but you do need to be connected to the game transaction server as the economy is online.

Presumably you are still online to download games to it, in which case have a browse through GOG.COM where you buy up old classics for decent prices. You don't have to be online to play them.

Joysticks lend themselves to things like flight and space games, and whilst there are some realistic ones, there are more arcade style games out there.

Elite Dangerous
Falcon 4 (old but good now bugs ironed out)
Lock On: Modern Air Combat

A joystick, whilst isn't as obviously as suitable as a steering wheel, is quite good for driving games, much better than keyboard and mouse.

Most action games these days are first person shooters, and mouse / keyboard is best for those.

The X series are fun.

X3 can probably be got for a few quid on Steam now.
