i was just remembering about some of the toys/games I had when I was a kid.
A few that spring to mind are:
Battling Tops....loved that game. You can still get it on eBay.

Jump jockey....like scalextrix but with horses.

Sailor buoy...little boats with wheels and sails, and battery operated wind machines (mini hair dryers) to make them go around a course made up of plastic buoys.

I also had a racing game where a police car chased a lorry round a track, and if it hit the back of the lorry, the back opened and barrels fell out. Can't remember what it was called.

Are there any old favourites that you remember?

Good thread

A couple I remember fondly......

Space invaders! Not that I ever seemed to have 10p to play when I found a machine.

Anybody remember the Jonny Seven gun ?

or Super Flight Deck

I had a Johnny Seven! I think I lost all the missiles and bullets by firing it at my sister. Probably be worth a fortune today, although once you'd eBayed it you'd probably get tasered taking it down the Post Office.

I had a game with red and blue fighting robots in a boxing ring - can't remember what it was called - their heads popped up when you got a hit.

But Battling Tops was a definite favourite :)

And Cascade! My dog ate most of the ball bearings....

Raving Bonkers ? ;)

The first one that came into my head but Subbuteo was what I played with most as a kid in the 70s.
I had subbuteo as well, and one of my pals had striker, where you pressed the players head to make him kick the ball.

What were the cars with the rip cord that you pulled and sent them crashing into each other. The bits were designed to all fly off on impact.

One was a blue beetle and the other a red pick up.

Oh....and does PONG count? :-)

had the Super Flight Deck - was forever garotting someone as they walked out of the living room and into the "flight string" as I had it set up along the passageway... Must have been early in the 70's that one...

Haunted house, yep - walls lasted maybe 2-3 sessions before falling apart.

MouseTrap - don't think I ever actually managed to play the game, just set up the whole Heath Robinson apparatus and got frustrated that the big silver BB always fell off the rickety stairs.

there's one I do remember though, which I can't find anywhere - but it was a sort of "lunar landing" game way before video games.

there was a "base station" that had a sort of "gimbal mounted fan", linked to a primitive joystick and a speed control. The "lander" was actually a small base that attached to a large rubber balloon. The idea was to position the "lander" on the base, fly it up in the air on a "updraft" from the fan, then gently bring it back down and land it. I spent hours flattening batteries and bursting balloons and don't ever remember one single successful landing

The 70s in Yorkshire were very different to North London. :D

Have you found one that goes into the ground like they used to or is it the new style fill base with sand or water?

New style, as it is to go on patio. Decided to get one as I used to have one in the 70's and thought it would be fun and help keep us fit

That's the game and as Dinner's pointed out it used to be called Raving Bonkers! I had Crossfire too - forgot all about that. I seem to remember blisters from that one from the trigger on the ball bearing gun.
