Hi everyone, I've been looking at the galaxy note as an upgrade to my Galaxy S2 and was wondering if anyone can offer any comments or views at all?

Notably, is it too big to carry around as a phone? Does it work well with the android software? For anyone who has followed a similair upgrade path do they feel it was worth it?

Thanks

I have a note which I use for work.
It is honestly one of the best phones I have used.
Very quick, great screen, decent reception, etc.
Awesome for Sky Go via a side load as it isnt officially supported.
Not so many apps taking full use of the stylus it comes with though. Just slightly gimmicky drawing ones.

BUT, if this was my only phone I think it would be too big.
I have a personal phone too so I dont have to carry it around in my pocket all the time.
Plus, most peoples reaction to it is "what the hell is that?"

I think if I was you I would stay with the S2 untill the S3 comes out.

Thanks Matt. If I upgraded then the Note would by my personal phone, and glad to hear it just seems to work, as it should, but little bit concerned about the size. I think I'd need to go in to a phone store and have a proper touchy feely and see if they'll let me put it in my jeans pocket to see what it would be like.

I've been using a Galaxy Note as my only phone since November 2011. I wrote a short feedback in this post - http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=4557721&postcount=59

There's possibly some useful owner feedback here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1579913

Thanks. Good reading and appreciate the link.

Experience with a Dell Streak (similar size earlier model) says jeans pocket is not the place to put a handset of this size. Specifically the Gorilla glass screen can break as the phone flexes in your pocket, even in a decent case it's not advisable unless you're being very careful.

Thanks. Valid consideration.

sold my G2 for a note.........

Love it. Yes it is huge, but perfect for watching a video on the fengibbon express when I don't get a car park space......

would love to get sky go on it though..

Not had a problem so far with the size and gorilla glass....

Best phone have ever owned or used.. my wife has the SG2 which it self is a great phone in its own right.. but the screen on the Note is just immense and browsing the internet is a dream
when I some times grab the SG2 its like looking at a postage stamp

when you first get the Note you will think wow this is big.. 3 days later you wont give it a second thought
and I will never ever go back to the smaller form factor and this is my only phone

it fits in my shirt and trouser pocket easily... I dont really use the stylus at all but my daughter loves the thing so I guess its an aquirred taste

as for the note - cannot fault it, though I have lost my headphones!!!!

video etc is so much better on 5.2" as opposed to 3"

Sorry to be really thick, but I don't understand.... clicked on it and something about Linux popped up...

The link I provided is to a post on the XDA Forums. Within that post there should be a link to the .APK file which allows you to install and run Sky Go on the Note. You will possibly/probably need to be logged in (free to join, just like TP) in order to access the file.
