Yes
I've decided to change my iPad 3 for one of these, in part due to the stylus and included photoshop package but mostly though it's because I don't like iOS to be honest.

Anybody used one in a photographic role - how'd you get on etc?

I have a Galaxy Note. It's a superb phone and I switched from iphone 4. It's like night & day.

As for photography, not sure what you mean. I have used it before to show potential customers some portfolio shots. But as big as the screen is, I don't think it's suitable for editing photos. It's still far too small for that.

I think the OP is referring to the note tablet not the phone mate:thumbs:

I have the 10.1 Samsung tab 2 tablet, and it is great for showing photos. Plus surfing the web and checking e-mails etc.

The one negative thing you're bound to notice is the big drop in resolution from the ipad 3. If you're just after an android tablet and the stylus with the note 10.1 isn't that important then I'd suggest waiting until next week and getting the google nexus 10.

Cheers guys, yep it's the full size tablet one. Pre-loaded with photoshop etc and works like a graphics tablet.

I considered the nexus 10 but wanted the expandable memory and I quite like idea of the stylus and the side by side working - hand writing a note in one window whilst browsing in the other.

Plus I'm not overly impressed with the resolution on my iPad, it's nice and all but side by side with an iPad 2 it wasn't much better so I'm hoping the difference isn't as pronounced as the specs suggest. Which to be fair is pretty much what the reviews have said.

I'll see on Monday when I collect it anyway, £258 after vouchers, cashback etc...

Ah, I got the impression that the stylus wasn't that important. ;)
I hope you like the Note 10.1, the stylus really is a good selling point.

The difference in resolution (ipad3/ipad2/note 10.1 etc..) was very obvious for me, when holding at arms length in stores. I also found the note a bit of a pain to hold, the slot for the stylus is just where I put my fingers, so when the stylus wasn't in it I kept catching my hand on the edge of the 'insert'. I'm sure it's just a matter of getting used to it as I was only messing about in store.

Absolutely, I noticed a huge difference from iPad 2 to 3. I'd notice an even bigger difference going back, I couldn't downgrade now.

Bit of an update on this for those who are interested...

Collected the Note from Tesco last night, first thoughts were fairly positive. It's lightweight and slim, noticeably more so than my ipad3. The different aspect ratio seemed a bit odd after the iPad but tbh the ipad seemed a bit strange to start with so I'd get used to it.

On start my first impression was that not only was the screen resolution lower than my iPad which I'd expected, it was also much lower than other tablets I'd seen.

Second problem I encountered was the s-pen, for some reason it just wouldn't write, I could draw but no matter what I did the text input feature wouldn't work.

Side by side and multiple windows seemed like a revelation at first but you're limited to which apps you can use. I wanted to use Dolphin as my browser but I can't use it in the multiscreen mode, only the standard browser is supported. And again the s-pen text input wouldn't work. So my dream of browsing and taking notes simultaneously didn't work out as I'd hoped.

So then I rang tesco and told them I'd be returning it today, they had no problem with that, even after I'd explained I'd used it etc etc and so I got a full refund this afternoon.

It's a shame because it had the makings of being a really good and fairly unique bit of kit but was let down by some niggly but irritating problems.

At least the Android was better than iOS though so...
