I'm currently on a ship cruising the Galápagos. The sky at night is amazing. Orion is directly overhead and we can see hundreds of starts and clusters with the naked eye. Unfortunately, the ship is moving at night. I have my Fuji XT1 with 18-135mm lens. I'm assuming I'd have no chance of getting any kind of photo from a moving ship?

Set your ISO as high as your comfortable with, open your aperture to the max to get as quick of an exposure as you can while still exposing properly and see what you get, depending on the size of the ship you might get a smooth enough ride to see capture something, gotta be worth a punt

Did try a couple of shots but in the end we were treated to an awesome display of around 20/30 sharks alongside the ship trying to catch flying fish. So, no photos but lots of fantastic memories.

Oh, yes. We were there in 1989 and one of my favourite memories is leaning back over the end of the boat one evening and just looking straight up.

Def on my bucket list of places to go. Went to NZ for my 30th, was thinking I might do it for my 40th.......... depending on what happens in life before then. and i'd prob be by myself which makes it even more expensive!!

im not a huge fan of boats, but have seen some trips that are land based which looks nice :-)

Sit back, enjoy and let your memory hold the picture. Whatever you capture will it do it justice by the sounds of it (and I'm not trying to fault your photographic ability)

Definitely recommend it if you can afford it. Scenery and wildlife was incredible. Not the most relaxing holiday I've ever had but so worth it.

That's what I did in the end. I've never seen so many stars with the naked eye before - absolutely amazing. Definitely something to remember.
