Hey guys and gals ,

I'm after a little inspiration of some comical and quirkyly setup wedding shots . Has any of you got some ideas or some photos of your own you can share with me?

I done one with the group of men holding the bride on her side with her elbow resting on the grooms head which was quite funny but not sure if that doable for the larger types...

Any ideas would be great .

I will not ever shoot that shot. Not only do I not like it (that's just personal taste though) but because it is a health a safety risk and a big one at that. If you direct the couple to do that and she gets dropped then it's your responsibility so please be careful with things like this. If they say it is a shot they want and you make it clear that it is their risk then shoot it all day long if you like.

I do know someone it happened to and the bride broke her hip and spent her wedding night in hospital.
 
Purely by accident at my friends wedding, he was outside with bestman (me) and he put his hands together (as to pray) looked up and said "please let this go well" - well the photographer caught that at the right time - its an amazing photo of us :D
 
A few ideas -
1)possibly cliched? find a solid tree with some lowish branches the bride, groom and bridesmaid / groomsmen climb tree so everyone is at different hights.
2) groomsmen and groom down on one knee as if proposng marriage to the bridesmaids? men can have the boquets in place of ring
3) I love it when I can bring in the personality of people I'm taking photos of so if they have a joint hobby i.e. rock climbing, could take mock rock climbing type photos of everyone together on climbing wall???? Hope this helps??
 
The bride pretending to push the groom in a lake. Bride with cake cutting knife at grooms throat (smiling).
Use local props, if theres a motor bike about get them sitting on it etc (ask first) We have had the B+G on a jetski by just asking nicely.
 
we have termed the throat cutting shot "the special shot" and do it at a lot of weddings now.for the couples who are chilled, and with a sense of humour surprising how often it gets to the album
get the groom to do it to the bride after the "cake cutting " shot, then the bride gets her own back"shower scene" stylee. stabbed in the back.

a shot of the best man pointing at the groom, who has his flies open?.
not good if the groom is "comando" though.

the groom knelt infront of the bride, her garter exposed, the groom then grabs in in his teeth and pulls it away from her leg slightly.
very popular again, and frequently makes the album.

groom kelt down with "help me" written on masking tape on the bottom of hs shoes?
we have had a groom do that without telling anyone but me and the best man.
i got the shot, and he got a laugh, much to the suprise of the vicar.
 
The bride, the bridesmaids, the groom, and the best man, all pointing a throw away cameras at you.
Just an idea.

Another similar one we often do is to photograph the back of a guests camera showing their shot (live wiew) with the B+G OOF in the background.
 
Only done 1, but got plenty stupid shots.
Groom still had the price tag on his suit so made sure I got a shot of that, he was unaware so I just asked him to adjust his button hole and the tag dropped down. Then got the shot of it being removed.

Again bride and groom up front and the rest of the party behind pulling faces

The groom and best man always wear shorts and walking sandals so they got a pair of black pants to match their suits and had them made in to shorts and came out after everything had been done wearing shorts with sandals and the rest of their wedding outfits. earlier in the day a few people had commented that it as strange to see them in long trousers and shoes little did they know.

Another shot I captured was the bride in church adjusting her magic knickers, I'm not sure if that will make the album.
 
Oh great, theres some good ideas there, thanks guys, i do enjoy taking pictures of otheres using their piont and shoots and always make an effort to get them too. heres one as mentioned above with i took at the last wedding i done
