Yes
I have a 1998 Mazda 626 (yeah I know, Rock 'n' Roll) with 97.5k miles on the clock. It's starting to show it's age and has been in and out of the garage a few times this year. It's coming up to it's service and I wondered if there would be anything to gain from putting it in to a full service at a Mazda garage rather than my local garage. Cheers, Guy.

i doubt it

You would have a sportier super light weight wallet going with Mazda, that is about all IMHO.

I don't think its worth keeping dealer service history on older cars. I'm not sure you fully recoup the costs of a FMSH or at least you can offset any losses against the cheaper labour of a local guy.

The main item could be a timing belt at that age, unless it uses a chain. If you have the manual, or are on a mazda forum you should be able to find out what is required at that service interval then decide from there.

I would rather use a good garage anytime over a dealer.

OK, thanks a lot chaps. I'm gonna keep it local :)

 I agree.

you are far better getting a decent garage (trusted by you or a recommended by a friend). they should be more than happy to put a stamp in the service handbook for you to prove it was done, or a receipt.

oh, and it'll be a third of the price.
