Full frame camera lenses

If you had a D810 would these shots have been any better?

Been offered a Nikon 135mm f2 dc... For £700.00 is it worth it?

It is a unique lens, and an old lens too. mpb often have them for a little less than that, but for portraiture and used correctly they produce fabulous results.

Which would be better suited for your type of photography on an FX body..... otherwise ~135mm on a DX = 200mm

£700.00 is a bit high -- Busting good piece of glass though :)

Mint condition. Just worried it's too long and too particular for me..

Ok. OK. OK. Wow. Your probably all right in one way or another.
I have a Nikon D7100 and a 18-200mm VR... That's it... I use lightroom....
I am just wondering if I changed the lens or the camera would the pictures be any better...
I need the length and the wide for kids and dogs... That's it... I know I need work... That's not my question....
If I spend money on my equipment, will it improve the image or is it OK to keep what I have and improve myself....

You were flogging a D3S a week or so back, did that not yield good results?

sorry Jon I'd missed this reply...

I am not a lover of super zooms, too many compromises for me (great for walk about but ...) I'd look at other options. A decent 17/18 to 50/55 f2.8 would be my first suggestion (Nikon, Tamron, Sigma - all good) - then maybe look at a 70-200 (the so called VR1 used is excellent vfm and superb on DX) of some sort and the rather excellent 35mm f1.8g DX lens (about £160 new, £100 used). The D7100 is very competent.

It probably is both too long and too particular and may not focus quickly either! If I had £525 available I'd ask where from ;)

Thanks to all. I'll archive link later

For you, almost certainly not.

The 135mm DC is a very specialised portrait lens. It's not particularly quick to focus and the Defocus Control gives you an extra variable to think about in addition to the usual ones. Plus, on a DX body 135mm is likely to be too long; if you really really want a DC lens (and to be honest I don't think you should do) the 105mm DC would probably be more suitable.
