Hi all I could have sworn that I could alter my settings via the viewfinder rather than the screen in bright light but I can't seem to was I dreaming? ??

No you were not dreaming.
You can set the shuter speed and aperture directly and some other things , but the rest can be done with the Q button.
I do not know if there is anything you can not do.
 
I was sure if I pressed the q button while looking through the viewfinder that the menu came up but it's not now bloody strange.
 
Just checked mine and it works OK. Have you altered any settings recently?

When you look at the rear screen and press the Q button does the menu show up?
 
What setting have you got set now... all of them...
I will set mine up the same and check.
 
I've removed the battery left it out for a while just replaced it and semi to be working ok I'm really confused.
 
It might be worth firing off an email to the Fuji Support Team - I have found them very good and they reply quite quickly. Their email address is fujitec@fuji.co.uk
