Fujifilm X-t1 firmware

I have just bought a second hand Fuji XT1 for a very affordable price due to the rear screen not working, the EVF works perfectly. I don't tend to use the screen much so it's no great loss to me.
I have been trying to find out what firmware it is on but to do this it says to hold down the DISP button while turning on, trouble is the viewfinder remains blank when I do this, is there a way to check the firmware and also uprate the firmware any other way please (updating the firmware is done the same way so I won't be able to view anything)?

Look in the EVF as it powers up, does it show there, if not toggle the View Mode (button on side of EVF turret, to make sure rear screen is on, the try the method you've been using up to now

I check just like you, but look at the back screen. Firmware should be 5.51

Tried it in all options but the EVF remains blank (only while checking for firmware ie when holding down the DISP button while turning on) at all other times the EVF works perfectly.

Thanks but the back screen is faulty and cannot be used hence the cheap price that I got it for. EVF only I'm afraid.

I can't see any info, the rear screen doesn't work so I can't see what I'm doing.

go to the Fuji website and see if the upgrades from new were worth you having, if not then maybe don't worry about it.

I doubt it. The repair will most probably cost more than the camera is worth. A non working rear screen doesn't bother me in the slightest. I just wondered if there was a way to check/upgrade the firmware without it.

You will need your screen to format your discs.

Thank you but formatting cards can be done via the viewfinder, I just tried it. Only the firmware can't be.

Some cameras put the firmware in the EXIF (possibly the MakerNote) though it doesn’t seem to be shown in all EXIF readers. Hard to see why it wouldn’t be included in all image files .

When I import my Fuji xt3 files into capture one, it lets me know if there is a new firmware update and which version the camera is on. Not sure if this applies to Fuji xt1?

I think that proves it’s in there somewhere. You would think the manufacturer would want it in the files for test purposes and so on.
