(In lieu of finding the official thread, sorry! Or I’ll change the title if there’s interest.)

Received the X-A5, 15-45 and SP3 today to review this month for my channel (YouTube.com/dlo247) and it looks like this camera could have a good shout for entry level fun, with a spot of vlogging and so on... at a lower price. And a nice entry to the Fuji X system.

So thought I’d come on and see who is into the x-a range and what you guys and girls like / dislike!

Is there a new Fuji released every month these days? Taking a page from ye old Sony days.

Don't bother buying, within a month they'll be offering £200 cashback on this model when the next is released.

Not quite Sony frequency I reckon. This replaces the X-A3, which came out... 2016. Two years is ok these days. Not every six months.

Sony has sorted their frequency. Fuji is the old sony (but they eek out the same sensor like canon) look at their track record and cashbacks across their range.... Becoming silly. Why would anyone buy at release prices inbetween frequent cashback offers.

Frequent cashback, releases and overlapping models is doing damage.

A new UK xt2 is under 900 quid. That's what over 600 quid loss in 1 yr and a replacement out soon.

To be perfectly honest I didn't start the thread to have this debate. Frankly a ten year old camera is good enough for a lot of photography but this is about a new camera, the tech etc... not about the business practices.

No offence intended at all, just not really what I wanted to be discussing on this thread. Could be a very worthy thread in it's own right though.

The X-A5 shares the same sensor as the new XT100, just packed into a more budget friendly body and minus an evf. Image quality will be very good, I've seen the XT100 directly compared to the XH1 and was surprised, it holds up to the big boys on that front easily.

Ye I think that sensor is surprising a few out there :)

tbh this seems more of a plug for your you tube channel than anything else, you could of put it in the fuji thread and not plugged your channel if this isnt the case.

There's separate Xpro1 and XH1 threads to the main Fuji one and nobody ever complained. Seems a bit odd just to enter a thread to have a pop at someone

Wow. Not a plug, just stating my interest. Thanks for the negativity. I did nothing to you.

Things like this remind me why I do certain videos instead of posting in forums :(
The ignore button is very useful. Start using it and these threads become more useful.

I haven't used the A series myself but have seen/read some reviews and it looks interesting.

Thank you! I shall do that :)

I guess you could always change it to the XA-? thread I have the XA1 & XA2 love the screen and the colours from the XA2 in particular also have a couple of XM1s :)

honestly wasn't meant as an insult, just the fact that you post a link to your channel in the middle of the thread and have a big advert for it as your sig it comes over that way to me.
I thought/think you might have better responses in the main thread

People use brand names all day long and nobody complains, in fact in some areas it's used as a badge of "cool".

We put our own enterprise up and people dislike it.

Also I'm happy to see the main thread for the X-A range.

Ye I couldn't find a thread so thought I'd see who's into it :)

Same here I looked for a thread for the same reason I’m not really sure why all the Fuji X threads aren’t just made into one thread ? I’m sure it could be done by administration if enough people wanted them combined?

I said this yesterday, we need two 'X' threads, one for fixed lens (X-100 series) and one for ILC cameras

Probably pros and cons for amalgamation. From what I can see some of them are pretty good as they are though! I guess dependant on the forum users buying habits. A lot of pretty cool images in them too.

This is aimed squarely as entry level, but still a lot of potential for nice images.

yep they do , but i don't think a forum is a placed to advertise, unless in a separate area just for that. but ha maybe thats just me. there is to much pushing of stuff/channels on the rest of the internet without it creeping in here.
anyway up to individuals if they choose to utilise/click on click bait or not. i just choose not to add to the hits on that site.
anyway i think it will be a great camera for Fuji, but i must admit i would like to see them go back to Bayer sensors in all their cameras

It's up to individuals you say yet you decided to make a thing of it. Nice. Enjoy your weekend, you've earned it.

Have you ever checked his channel out? He's about as down to earth as you can get, I enjoyed his content when i shot Fuji, nice change from the usual promo-forced type 'reviews' tbh. And no, I have no connection, I did win a prize from his channel, which I was chuffed with, but that's it, I was already watching. Still watch his stuff now and I don't even shoot Fuji, I think he's a likeable guy. Maybe try before slating? I think it's the least you could do as you haven't exactly been on topic, you simply came in to have a jab at the OP

as i sid we will just have to agree to disagree, please dont make asumptions about me.
yes i have and yes i agree with you, seems very nice bloke and down to earth. but my view on advertising on here still stands.
as i already said if you read my post i would love to see fuji go back to all bayer sensers as i much prefer the images from them, the X-trans just doesnt do it for me- but i wont start on odd rendering from them as that will really open the can of worms that needs to stay shut:p- ha just spotted the vid above:D

People will always answer a tread exactly how they wish, and rarely exactly how we expect.
Fuji centered threads are no exception.
We never actually own threads, and what we might have planned for them is rarely an ego trip that others are willing to share.

As to the camera... it is filling what is becoming a niche market, a sort of super entry level compact, hanging on the shirt tails of models further up the scale of things.
I have no Idea who buys such things.

Well no ego trip was planned here, just seeing what people thought on this forum of a new camera/lens aimed at the entry level.

Perhaps not the right forum to find many entry level users. or with informed opinion on that level equipment.

Maybe, I imagine we've shared a lot about equipment way below this level in the past and I don't imagine this forum is just used by pros or otherwise long time aficionados. But yes, seems most X-A users are elsewhere or can't be bothered to dredge through the complete off topic nature of most of the replies :)

I was very interested in buying one to be honest but went for the Canon m100 because I've not had a canon for ages but I would be very happy owning one

The canon are spot on for regular videos, vlogs and family style stuff and the photography side is excellent too. I think fuji have the edge on the images but in general use that’s probably just a personal difference.

Fuji look like they’re trying to catch up on the video side and so far so good. I’d love this to work as well as the little Canon EOS m cameras for simple video stuff, the face tracking is so good on the newer ones I’ve tried and my 80D.
