Hi,

I've been looking to update my existing camera and have decided I don't want a dslr, as Phil already has one and it's far too complicated

I've been looking at a fujifilm finepix SL1000 as it has a 50x zoom, so no need for additional lenses :). I've taken a few sample photo's with one in the shop and they seem ok.

Has anyone got any first hand experience with one of these or could offer any advice before I take the plunge and buy one.

Do you really need something with that amount of reach?
A member on another forum bought the SL, and declared the IQ at the long end as unimpressive.
If the size isn't a factor, nor the weight, you could look at the X-S1, which whilst only having a 26x optical zoom, does have a 2x intelligent DZ if you absolutely need to zoom in that much.

Thanks for the reply Phil.

As for needing 50x zoom, who knows  I just thought it might come in handy for photographing wildlife :)

Thanks for the link and I'll take a look and try make up my mind  :)
