Yes
I know i asked this in the main fuji xt1/xt10 thread, but i thought if i put a poll out here for people to make my mind up for me. I am making my decision in the next couple of days and am torn on which way to go. I would prefer the xt1 due to being more rugged.
But none of the lenses are weather sealed that will be using anyway.
I am also concerned on the smaller b****r on the xt10.
Usage will mostly be portrait shots and photos of my kids.

Logic says go for the better lens, which i am assuming to be the 56mm 1.2

I also will be using a zeiss 32mm. I may pick up the 16-50 with either body to have a zoom option.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Just don't let the "smaller b****r" anywhere near the X-T10 o_O

Haven't voted as there are only two choices. Mine would be the X-T1 & 56 or the X-T10 with 60

I have the XT1 and 56 what a combo!

that would be my ideal setup, but cant budget for both at the moment. Damien Lovegrove seems to like the rendering of the 60mm though, so may not be all bad.

well thats just being awkward.

Don't you own the different set ups Colin?

Maybe but I feel the 56 is much better suited on the X-T1 and the lighter 60mm on the X-T10.

I thought you were in a position to give user advice and my memory wasn't playing tricks (y)

I had the X-T10 for all of two weeks, but then I got a good deal on a second X-T1. I did mount the 56 on the 10 but don't think I would have used that configuration.

What do you really need from the X-T1 that the X-T10 doesn't deliver on.

Personally I'd go for the X-T10 and 56mm combo over the X-T1 and 60mm simply because the glass will last you longer than the body will. It's a better investment.

However, as I've said elsewhere the 60mm is more than adequate image quality wise, just a little slower focus wise.

Although I don't like the size of the XT10 I have voted for it + 56mm F1.2 because of the lens.

I am thinking the extra buffer, larger body (I do have larger hands, either body I would get a grip). Think that's it really

A new xt10 is 500 plus 550 for a used 56. A xt1 used is 550 plus 550 for a used 56. That's 50 quid difference.

I've not seen the xt10 for £550. Do you have a link?

There is an X-T10 for sale on the forum for £425. In terms of ergonomics/handling of the X-T10 vs X-T1, I think that's only something you can decide. I personally love the X-T10 - without intending to be biased.
It gives me the key features I want from an X-T1 for almost half the price (comparing new prices), but some may find it too small. I shoot mostly primes and a small zoom (16-50) so it's perfect. May add the 56mm to the arsenal and I am done.

As someones mentioned already, the lenses will keep more money over the bodies.

I have the xt-1 and 56mm and it's outstanding. Can't comment on the 60mm or the xt-10 so can't really vote. The build, IQ, focus and sharpness of the 56mm is just so good.

my ideal setup would be xt1, 56mm.

however I loved 35mm on FF so I have already acquired a 23mm and also intend to get the 90mm too.

I've recently bought X-E2 and 60mm, great combo, and light weight.

Problem with X-T10 + 52mm, I think, is the unbalanced weight. Lens would be too heavy. So I voted for X-T1 and 60mm, you'll get a much more balanced setup.

Personally the X-T1 + the 56mm but from the options above it would have to be the X-T1 + 60mm

thanks everyone for the responses so far. It's pretty much a 50/50 split for which way to go. I have a few more days to decide yet. By that time hopefully the results will guide me. As I am genuinely torn between the two as both are great cameras and lenses.

This is just a thread of potential regret!!

If you lust after the X-T1 and buy the X-T10, then you will still want an X-T1

If you lust after the XF56mm and buy the XF60mm then you will still want the XF56mm

You won't win!!!

Personally I would go for the X-T10 in this situation with the XF56mm, why?? because the slow AF of the XF60mm, will just end up frustrating you, yes it's a great lens (I have one), but it's not an XF56mm. If you think that balance will be an issue with the X-T10 then add a grip (not the expensive Fuji one, but a third party one. And consider buying the X-T10 16/50mm bundle if you think you will add a 16-50 to the lens bundle.

But that X-T1 will always be in the back of your mind...........

Pretty much the reason i bought the T1. I knew if i bought the T10 then i would always wonder about the other one.

The X-T1O is just a dumbed down version of the XT-1 but with the same sensor but also with less features. The only reason for buying it would be to save money - but there's nothing wrong with that !

I'd like your thoughts on your upgrade. :)

Or the X-E2 for a more stylish camera while saving £300 (vs X-T1) or £150 (vs X-T10).

I have to agree with this along with @Mr Perceptive

If it's an X-T1 that you have your heart set on, then you probably won't feel 100% with the X-T10.

This is exactly why im waiting for my budget to allow the xt1 rather than pressing buy on a xt10

.

Not tried it in anger yet, for me the t10 would have been to small. I will admit, i was in two minds about selling the X-E2 and im sure it will serve you well, my only reason for selling was i had wanted the t1 since it came out and could finally afford it.

I'm thinking of which route to take too, if I were to get in to the Fuji system.

Prices from Digitalrev.

Fuji X-T1, 18mm, 35mm, 60mm = £1500 approx.

Fuji X-T10, 23mm, 56mm = £1560 approx.

Also, how do these Fuji cameras compare to a NEX 6, which I currently own/use.

Other route for me would be:

Sony a6000, 28mm, 55mm = £1160 approx.

Sony A7, 28mm, 55mm = £1630 approx.

Personally I am happy with the X-T10. I don't have any regrets. The viewfinder in the X-T1 would be nice and that's the only thing I am pretty envious of I must admit, but then coming from the XP1 - its a definite improvement and I don't feel held back in anyway over it. I'm not overly fussed on what else I'm not getting either such as weather sealing, better buffer, ISO wheel (I've actually programmed the button on the front of the X-T10 to control the ISO and I quite like it, although lazily most of the time I will use auto ISO.) and so on. The tiltable screen, faster AF and Wi-Fi were the ticks in the box for me.

As I said earlier in the thread though, if it felt too small/uncomfortable in the hands or I was using the bigger lenses - then I would feel very differently about one, and would hold off and get an X-T1.

I've been in a similar situation before where I have said "that will do" to something such as a lens or camera, then end up wishing I waited to get what it was I really wanted - so I would definitely advise to go with what your heart is set on.

Advice can be helpful but I think it's down to what you feel comfortable with handling wise.
