Fuji XF1 or X20?

I think there should be a separate section of the forum, and this could be for people who have a Fujifilm fetish, or does it only apply to the XF1 ? :sneaky:

Hi
Sometimes lugging arround the Nikon D700 and a load of glass does get tiring!

So, the small Fuji X series appear to get a resonable write up, and I'm sort of down to these two.
Anything down from the D700 is going to be way smaller and lighter, and something that fits in my pocket even better.
So, apart from the size and perhaps how they handle, is there much in performance and IQ between these two. Not least as Currys have the XF1 at £130 at the moment. Making it about half the price of the X20
OK, so this is not goiing to replace the D700. It's for those days when photography is not my main reson for going out!
Any experience of both would be usefull.

After lugging SLRs around and then faffing about through pages and pages of menus on pocket compacts, I came upon the X10. It was just so, well it was great, most of the control on buttons and a viewfinder, what else could I want?
Well it was an X20 it is just that little bit of extra in all the right places.
That coming from somebody with great big chunks of rheumatoid arthritic claws for hands is saying a lot.
The image quality is up there with the best of them. If you don’t want to be spending time processing RAWs the jpegs are of the highest order, but then you can take both, and decide if you can do a better conversion than that that the camera has made from your settings.

Come on down and get a X20 and be done with it.

For loads of images, have a look on the old pages for the X10 and X20 on page one of this thread/forum.

Rhodese.

Haha. Already bought the xf1.
Not sure with some of the filters, it insists on only letting me shoot at medium (6Mb?). The soft focus is great, but I'd prefer the full 12 Mb

The X10 is indeed a cracking camera. Mine suffered from orbs and had the sensor replaced. I was thinking of upgrading to a X20, what are the main differences.

I still think they replaced my orb infected sensor with a X20 one in Fuji's words' we can not confirm, nor deny this' !

Writing in the viewfinder?

Nod will be along shortly I'm sure.. ;)

Some hours later!

That's pretty much it, exposure info in the VF. Which is nice but is missing the level which is what I would like to see there.

I got a black XF1 from Currys yesterday £129.00. A small lightweight classy looking camera. For a 'pocket' take anywhere camera this has to be great value.

Unfortunately, neither CS5 or DXO Optics Pro 9 work with the Fuji RAF raw files so I'm having to use the dng converter.

Use JPEG!

Lightroom 5 and cs6 work just fine. Can't your ACR be updated?

Fuji XF1 requires ACR 7.1 (CS6) upwards CS5 tops out at ACR 6.7.

I don't have LR.

It's a little inconvenient but converting the Fuji RAF files to dng with the free Adobe converter works ok.

It will also work in Aperture 3.0 costs about £45 from the App Store if you have a Mac ?
